Sorry to break it to you but KN = Kipper Nichols :D

Well who the hell is Lewis then? He probably meant Lucas but its still a flashback to last years discussion.

Also he forgot Abrams.

He was assuming TA was the starter, and was talking about who was competing for back up PG minutes. His mistake was Lewis/Lucas mix up, the rest of it makes perfect sense to me.

If we get a smarter version of Tracy as a sophomore for 23 minutes per game, we will be a very good team. If TJL can keep the opposing PG in front of him for 10-15 mpg, he'll get those minutes, and the rest will probably go to Hill.

I get what he was trying to say its just funny looking at it because if he had posted that last year it would have fit right in.

Ah guess I was thrown off by the Lewis part. Also don't really think about Kipper yet since he likely won't be playing until at least December

Yes it was my bad on the Lewis/Lucas. Yes KN was Kipper. Even if he's not available until the after the first semester, Groce would have had 1/3 of a season by that point to know if he trusted Tate and/or Lucas as the backup. Kipper by all accounts will find his way into the rotation. Returning when he does might be the added depth we need at the wing to move Malcolm up, specifically for B1G play.

Thanks to those who defended/corrected the typo.

Yep, you can always hope for a Quinn Richardson or Chris Gandy type surprise senior season, but we pretty much know what we're getting from Tate at this point.

I definitely agree, I just found it odd we hadn't heard about how much work he's been doing on his shooting like we heard the past 2 offseasons. Maybe they figured we wouldn't fall for it a 3rd time.

Chet would be another example of a guy who improved his offensive game in his final season. I think Rayvonte shot a higher percentage from 3 his senior season as well, so it could happen, but I'm not betting on it. Tate could improve his shot a bunch and it'd still be terrible, lol

Tremendous improvements from Hill, Kipper, JCL and rest of the team. Black and Tate appear to have been impacted by their suspensions. We will be fielding more of a physical team than the last several years. Having 3 true bigs in Thorne, Mav, and Finke.

So AJ has some hops now. That vertical increase might be the most impressive stat fletcher has produced so far. Anyways, improved athleticism raises AJs ceiling by how much ya think?

I think quite a bit. If he becomes a threat to finish at the rim it opens him up a bit more outside, cause teams have to close out on a potentially great shooter with caution. To maximize though, his handles need to be solid or getting to the rim is moot.

Like many others here, I watched a lot of the training videos AJ's dad was posting for awhile. Jordan has some skills and now he has the body. Obviously, practicing by yourself or 2v2 is a lot different than a regular game, but this bodes well. I really think he's going to prove to be a solid contributer this year.

I drink orange kool-aid pretty heavily each offseason, but this has been the most optimistic I have been in the past few years.

There's a fun game during the recruiting waiting period between the end of contact periods and the commitment season: Which Illini have made the greatest single-season improvements? Chris Gandy is on that list. Kevin Turner? Warren Carter?

Malcolm Hill

I think 10 wins and 6th in conference is easily within our reach, with a chance to sneak into the top 4.

We should have the personnel to be in the 4-6 range. The thing that's bugged me most about the last two years is how we've looked as a unit, even with injuries. A good coach will turn a team into more than the sum of the pieces.

Hope the guys are practicing grabbing the ball at the top of those leaps. Bigger, stronger, faster is great, but also need technical skill, tactical knowledge and a great attitude. It seems l am constantly hearing about getting minds and bodies right from Groce. I'd rather see/hear a commitment from him to be at the top of the conference in rebounding margin.

If we are going to be competitive, we need to improve rebounding... a lot.

Insert your two best rebounders back into the lineup and watch what magically happens.

The greatest sophomore to junior leap I can remember is Luther Head. As a freshman he was pure uncontrolled energy. In all directions, at all times mostly. He started to harness it all as a sophomore and then POW, he was a stud.

Sounds like Kendall Gill 's path, too.

Don't know anything about the global sports academy. Someone care to explain what this is/ what kind of competition Aaron will play with/against? Also, how does someone get selected into the program?

In the past we've had players go on a euro tour put on by a religious group that would put together a team of B1G players playing pro/semi-semi-private teams. I don't think there's much a selection. If a coach and player wants that player to go, they go. Imagine this is similar, minus perhaps the religion part.
