One mistake does not define Illini's Black
The university works with my school and brings athletes in to work with or talk to our kids throughout the year. Leron started working with the kids, fell in love with them and couldn’t get enough," Meyers said. "I don’t condone what he (Black) did.
"I’ve met a lot of athletes over the years, but none like him. He was required to do his 25 hours and did them rather quickly, then Leron just kept coming back. At one time we totaled his hours -- he was at 175. He would contact me frequently and ask to come visit the kids even when he was done if he didn’t have class or study hall.”
“Leron knew he messed up; he would be the first to tell you he was going to right his wrong. I remember a conversation where he flat out told me he has strong faith and would make it through this, but felt awful for what he put his family and teammates through,” Meyers said.

Really like Leron - my impression has always been he has a good heart - just made a bad decision.
