Illini Basketball 2016-2017

This has probably been discussed but no Midnight madness type event this year again. I was kind of hoping that the SFC would be complete finished. Seems like a great way to re introduce the team and the Hall.

I don't think they would host one even if the renovation was finished.

My immediate thought is make the tournament and then we can talk about some event like that.

Hmm. Are they having a problem filling Krush this year?

Sure looks like it, but I wouldn't make much of it though --the SFC expands Krush from 700 to 1200, at least according to the renovation website. So even if they've got a lot more interest, they made need to stretch this year.

The good news for Illinois hoops fans. The injury list is just at one right now: Jalen Coleman-Lands is out for a few more weeks - healing a broken hand, John Groce told ESPN. This is a program ravaged by injuries and off-court issues, but can be dangerous this season -- if the Illini stay healthy. Tracy Abrams and Mike Thorne both back. Obviously it's a big year for Groce.

They have done this every year for at least the last 5 years

So it's about the same as the "once in a lifetime sales event" they have down at the local furniture store every year on President's Day?

Street Jam 3 years ago was a failure.

Yeah it was a decent idea but really was not that great. I will always want it to be in Huff even though it can't hold basketball anymore. That said I did truly enjoy the open practice in '14 and poster signing. It was so cool being that close to an open practice and scrimmage.

The season + big ten tourny = 25 wins for Illinois. They have depth, skill, senior leadership, etc. No mo excuses. I want at least 2 wins in the tourny too btw. Yes, I'm greedy y'all!!!

If we get solid (average) PG play then I don't think that is greedy at all. Although, I don't really count on tournament wins. The tournament is all about matchups.

I'm really exited to see Tracy's growth. He essentially got two years coaching experience and is coming back to playing, and is mentally and physically stronger than ever.

He really should be a first-class floor general, in all phases of the game. I can't wait to see the product on the floor.
