Illini Basketball 2017-2018

Trent Frazier may be a tad undersized to play the 5 but he may surprise us all.
At this point, could care less who we bring in for next year, I just want to watch some exciting basketball, I think the days of 20 point blowouts is over. For the first time in a while we're going to have some guards and wings out there that are scary to other teams. A lineup of Smith Frazier Alstork Black Finke is going to be really exciting. November needs to hurry up.

I actually really am hoping that Dwill will be in the rotation next year, never want to have a 6'5, long, athletic, wing who can handle the ball and play defense in street clothes for a whole year, but his health is number one. I agree Nichols/Black pairing would be great. We aregoing to be small but darn it we are going to be fast and play hard as heck. i agree on DWill....I think he has the potential to make as much impact of any Illini on projected roster and is likely the most athletic. I'm just a little scared of rushing him into lineup out of desperation. I want to enjoy watching him as long as possible and can't stand thought of cutting his career short.
Watched a really good documentary last night on Netflix called "At All Costs", followed a kid from LA Jackson-Cartwright who went on to play at Arizona..he fractured his ankle during AAU ball and came back to early, ended up taking about 2-3 years to fully recover. don't want the same to happen to Dwill, as i agree i see his potential being as high as eventaully being in the NBA. For anyone intersted, John Groce is in the documentary for a few seconds, really interesting look at AAU ball.
I have a hard time seeing Leron on the perimeter in Spread. I also have a hard time seeing Leron and mf on the court together with absolutely no depth behind them, currently.
Agreed. And I feel like we've been having this conversation with people every day on here.
Even if we pick up 2 more players of any caliber, those 2 will seldom be on the floor together this year...anyone that thinks otherwise doesn't understand the basics of B1G basketball.
What can we expect with our OOC schedule this year? I'm guessing something not very exciting outside of the ACC/B1G,UC,Miznoz,Depaul..

We've got our rim protector! Its nice to see highlight films that show good D.
I think these guys had more dunks in one game than our team had all last season.

The 3rd big will play. And probably a lot.

We don't really have much of a choice, regardless of who it is. The good thing is this offense doesn't rely much on post scoring, so whoever we end up taking really just needs to provide some rim protection and rebounding.
I agree we get another big. I was more surprised by how confident he was that this mystery player can play major minutes and make a huge impact on this team.
I can easily see a kid coming in and playing 5-10 minutes a game but to me major minutes is in the 20+ territory. I dont know of anyone I'd want to see do that.
Believe it or not I think the same thing really. most blacks come from help D, and with Smith, DaWill, Kipper, Black, even AJ as long as we have a Post Defender who can get up and down the floor, I think we will see a lot more blocks. As long as our Post Defender can cut guys off then help D can get there

My confidence is based on having only 2 guys available for the big position. My confidence is based on our need. Digging deeper, one of those 2 guys is foul prone, and had a previous leg injury. The other is a defensive mismatch, which can lead to being foul prone, and coming off a lower body injury. I don't feel like my confidence is a stretch in any way.
I read his post the same way. Don't think 5* is indicating some secret recruit who will excite everyone

Also on the IlliniMBB twitter account, videos show Leron, Finke, TJL, and kipper running hills. Finke had nothing on his legs and looked full go!
