All it takes is some reading of past performance. The offense he likes to run, could work with any 5, but for a height off set your going to need at least 1 big . Nobody has mentioned Michigan offense, which seemed to me worked fine, with one real big. I would take the outcome they had at end of the year.:illinois:

I'm considering LB our mini version of Draymond Green next year amd emphasize guard rebounding on Defense.

I think this is fine, but we need a little depth behind 4 and 5 positions, which they might be selling to an incoming freshman. I'm sure they're not selling a starting spot to the freshman left they are talking to, save JT in the post which he would still need to fight for.

Two things BU learned from last year I'm sure, play the best players unlike Groce from the beginning and make adjustments quickly to not start the B1G conference schedule 0-6 like OSU last year.

While we waiting for news and bored, here's a fact from BU's team last year. Jeffrey Carroll 6'6" G came off the bench to grab 12 rebounds against Maryland at Maryland last year. Out rebounded them 44-39, but lost by 1 point. My hope is we win some we are not expected to win and not lose those we are expected to win, which has been the most frustrating thing to me watching the beloved.

Offensively we have plenty of depth at the 4. Defensively it will be interesting because almost nobody goes with 2 true bigs anymore. If it's a team that goes with a stretch 4 who doesn't post up much, I almost think the pressure a guard/wing could put on that guy defensively would work to our advantage.

I'm not old enough to remember all basketball players who wore #22, but I found an amazing vintage Illinois basketball jersey at a garage sale yesterday.

Can anyone name some players who have worn #22 over the years?

This gem is going straight to my collection.

if you posted a picture of it odds are real good someone would be able to narrow it down to 1 or 2 guys

If the jersey has a sweet smoky scent to it, it's probably Richmond's.

Don't forget Big George Bon Salle as well. I think he had it after Johnny Red Kerr left.

I'm guessing it is a Kiwane Garris jersey. He and Corey Bradford are my childhood favorites!! Lucky find! I miss those uniforms and the Chief being on every piece of Illini gear around. Still have my Illini Starter jacket with the Chief on the back from the mid 90s. It's still hanging right next to the Charlotte Hornets Starter jacket from the mid 90s that everyone owned.

They had a bunch of #15 at the on campus sale a month or so ago. Not authentic, I don't think. Leftover Mike Shaw jerseys? LOL

Believe they came out with those when the rebrand happened in 2015, therefore using 15 as the number on the jersey. Thought it was dumb when they did that.

Ah, that makes a lot of sense.... Sounds like something Thomas would approve, LOL

All the numbers on jerseys will reflect the year they were printed now. The NCAA was called out by many for profiting off of player image without the players receiving compensation for it. O'Bannon-esk but not a part of the lawsuit specifically.

https://www.si.com/college-football/2013/08/07/jersey-ncaa-sales-manziel-clowney

After this piece was published the rules changed around making specific player numbers for sale. I can't find where the NCAA says this specifically so I guess it could be on a school by school basis?

The article is worth going through to see Jay Bilas's trolling of the NCAA.

After the O'Bannon decision most schools have avoided marketing jerseys that were easily identifiable as associated with a specific player, so they use the current year. There are some exceptions to this, but I'd expect to see mostly "17" on any new designs this year. From looking at the Fanatics shop page, there are still a lot of "15" available.

Edit--yeah, what Knox said. ;)

From today's link on bigten.org "Big Ten Men’s Basketball Coaches Recap 2016-17 Season at Annual Business Meeting", a reminder-

"2018 Big Ten Tournament at [Madison Square Garden] from Feb. 28-March 4, 2018"

Instead of having the tourney title game on Selection Sunday, it's now a full week off before Selection Sunday (March 11).

To make up for the shortened league season, they'll probably play 2 league games in early December.

Thanks for posting the video, WVC.

I love that BU is so into the X's and O's and trying to find new tweaks to mix in. Maybe all coaches are like that, but I think I've heard more about it in the first two months of Underwood's tenure than I did in 5 years of Groce's.

Also, I can't wait to hear reports from media who attend practices. I think Underwood said he would generally allow folks in to watch, so the practice reports should end up being a little less biased than they might have been in the past.

I liked how he perked up when talking about practice. He also perked up when talking about the current players here as well. That's good to see. Seems like he genuinely cares that they improve and get better. That will go a long way with players and future recruits.
