I swear I saw a teaser out there a number of months ago, but sure can't find it again.

Edit: Found it

This hype video project kind of got put on the backburner once classes started but I'm hoping to have the full version done around Halloween :thumb:

Yep. Score of a scrimmage irrelevant. I remember one year we supposedly played a closed door scrimmage vs. Dayton (2014?), blew their doors off (supposedly), and then proceeded to once again have a crappy regular season while Dayton ended up like 27-9 and making the second round of the Tourney.

I truly believe that DaMonte is going to be the X Factor surprise this season. Most are thinking Frazier will be bigger off the bench, but I think once DaMonte gets a good dose of playing time and his confidence rises, he's going to be that guy.

Smooth operator.

Looks like a young IS team. I don't put too much stock into these scrimmages. Coaches will preview film to find out the positives and negatives. It's only pre-season.

They were sub .500 last year and finished something like 5-13 in the Missouri Valley.

No game planning, first performance together, young team.

Different sport but I remember last year how the Bears outplayed the Patriots in a scrimmage/practice session.

So long as this is the baseline for the Illini and we go up from here, not worried at all.

Illini don't have a team (yet) where they can roll the ball out there and play. This is where Underwood's value as a coach, tactician, motivator comes in.

Was there ever a clarification on the final score of said scrimmage? I apologize for my concern over irrelevant details. :)

I'm not concerned with the outcome of the secret scrimmage game with Indiana State. It's not even November so let's not worry about how this team will play....yet. This secret scrimmage was a way for Underwood to see what works and what doesn't. The players on this team are adjusting to a new style of play that they haven't used in an actual game so of course it's going to take some time to get use to. I'm not going to worry until November 10 once the season officially starts.

I gotta know the score just to know the score I promise not to take it seriously.

Apologies if this was already posted, but Alstork gets a preseason hype as "Newcomer of the Year" in SI's Big Ten preview. They also project us to finish 13th. I believe SI uses a similar stats-based algorithm to Kenpom, because I don't see any other way to reconcile Alstork being newcomer of the year with the Illini finishing 13th in the league.

(Additionally they have Leron Black listed as a senior; do better SI).

Reportedly 79-77 Indiana St... which is about as close to meaningless as anything could be IMHO without further insight as to how it was conducted... slightly more meaningful were the reports our bigs scored and rebounded well and guards shot poorly.

Also perhaps meaningful were reports Tejon barely played and their PG went off on offense.

I like it when guys say this stuff. Typically you get the answer that they are just taking it one game at a time. Fuel for the rivalry.

Regardless, what are the chances he uses this to get focused and perform at a higher level vs. getting excited and fouling himself to the bench?

Sweet. There isn't one of us that won't soon forget what he did, either. What did he expect?

That's exactly right. I don't begrudge anyone for making the decision that is best for them. Who else will do that for you? No one. But don't think that your decisions are also without consequences. Want this rivalry to get back to its heyday anyway. Bring it.
