Agree. Illini will have loads of trouble against teams with big size and depth in the front court.

And vice versa. It all depends on who is making who play who's game. - Sorry I'm part owl.

Braggin Rights game may be swinging in our favor if Porter is truly out for the season.

I want to beat them at full strength. I want them to clone Michael porter 12 times and create 2 of every position and a couple managers. Then beat that team too. Want no excuses from either side in this game. Just hoopin.

That said, hope he’s okay come June cause it would suck to be the potential number 1 pick overall and have something like that set you back.

Yeah please share if you know something. I've just seen that it's an undisclosed injury. If he sits out this year with an unkown injury, it's pretty obvious he just wants to be healthy for the NBA. Mizzou fans would be pissed and I would laugh.

I think we are just making assumptions based on the fact that he hasn't traveled with the team or even sat on the bench during home games (from what I read the other day). That seems very odd for someone who only has a minor injury.

He was on the bench for the ISU game. Not sure about the other ones.

I wish we can smoke Mizzou without M.Porter. Then he recovered and dominates SEC with Mizzou. That's the situation that maximizes our tourney chance.

I'd rather smoke Mizzou with Porter. But your scenario works as well.:thumb:

after first 3 games we had 9 players averaging approx 18 minutes per game, or more.

BU is sticking to his past trend with few if any players averaging over 30 min per game.

MF leads with 28 min per game.

And if I had to pick in the preseason who'd be the player with the most minutes it definitely would have been Finke.

And if we had a fourth big who was as good as Finke black and Kipper I think Finke would probably be closer to low 20s.

Just like I wrote it the Fab Five and the Flyin Illini were predicted to be final four teams and they were. When they showed up to play anyone B10 and any conference they were the hands down favorite...

FabFive finished tied for 3rd in B1G, ranked 15 AP

He was on the bench for the ISU game. Not sure about the other ones.

He watched the game from the trainer's room against Wagner because it was too uncomfortable to sit on the bench.

He did not travel to Utah, presumably because it was too painful/uncomfortable to be on the plane, though that has not been explicitly stated.

I don't care whether they have Porter or not, I want to smoke them either way. I agree I'd then like to see them be successful in the SEC, but then I want them to flop so hard in the tournament. I'm talking like a 15-2 upset against Norfolk St. kind of a hard flop.

Mizzou is my most hated opponent, bar none.

This year, we probably do need Mizzou to do well given how weak the rest of our OOC schedule is. Generally though, I'd rather they go 0-31 and kill our RPI, then do well and boost it.

The sooner Cuonzo proves what a fraud he is, the sooner he'll stop reeling in big time talent. I hope that day comes as soon as possible.

I know there has been discussion somewhere about ignoring KenPom ratings until mid-season, but I was just looking at the current rankings through 11/19 and our remaining schedule before January. Illinois is currently #98. I think just the fact that Wake Forest remains #77 with a 1-4 record confirms that these likely take a bit of time to catch up. The rankings of the opponents who beat them do suggest that they have played tougher competition than us (#63, #87, #168, #199). Just food for thought.

Thanks. Better than nothing.

We've played no one, and we've won. More importantly, we're improving, if you believe the eye test. No one on our non-conf looks like a loss, although we might not have a single top-100 RPI team in the bunch. If Missouri gets back Porter, they'll be tough. The way they're hiding his injury makes me think it's worse than a couple week rest. If would be awesome to go into the BIG opener @ NW undefeated.

PS. I personally don't think Wake will wind up top-100, although they may have a decent RPI because of SOS.

I'm sure NW will clean things up, but boy do they look beatable right now

And by that same reasoning, we beat a team that is significantly better than 2 teams they lost to.
