Does De La Rosa have more than 1 year of eligibility? Only played two years at Kent State as far as I can tell. Looks like he RS at St. Johns so maybe he lost a year sitting out at Kent State, that would mean this is his last year.

I'm very skeptical that he's going to be able to play until well into the season, but it's worth a shot because he's exactly what we need and it's not like that scholarship year is a precious resource at this point.

Also, A+ name

Still one spot left, do we sit on it, hope for Cunningham, etc...

If Kane and Higgs make it, and De La Rosa is able to play and not lurching around like Frankenstein, and you squint hard enough, you can just about see this thing holding together. Just.

If his body responds well, no reason he can't be playing in games in December, possibly earlier. Given the fact that it's already been 3-4 months since his surgery, they probably have a good indication of how things are progressing in the early stages. Certainly worth the risk with spots available.

Not that I know anything about his progress, but I'm more concerned with his ability to stay in shape than with the structural integrity of his knee. You can come back from an ACL tear in an offseason these days. He was listed at 320+ pounds as a freshman, though, so he might be more challenged than some in terms of staying in playing shape.

Love this. Grabbing Higgs and De La Rosa this late without having a single OV to offer is a sneaky impressive feat. Is De La Rosa a sure-thing contributor coming off a torn ACL? Probably not. But looking at the options available, it was about the best we could hope for—and certainly better than leaving a spot unfilled.

Did we sign Adrian Peterson?

He had a state championship at Christ the King. Fits right in with Trent, Ayo, Griffin and Higgs with regards to state champions.
Had 7 double/doubles last year at KSU.

Illinois sources have confirmed that De La Rosa will be Giorgi's roommate.

Article I read said one year of eligibility.

Definitely. Though it sounds like he'll be here asap, so Fletch and crew will be able to get him on the right path.

De La Rosa was in the process of being admitted to the university last week, and he could arrive on campus as early as this week.

Went to St. John's but never played as he was declared academically ineligible (his SAT was flagged). Went JUCO for 1 year, 2 years at Kent State and graduated. So only one year of eligibility remaining.
