I don't think Brad goes anywhere.

As long as Illinois keeps him happy, I agree. Seems like the reason he came here was having an AD and admin that didn't fully support him or compensate him.

Love this idea, but what if.... when Brad moves on? Kansas, Kentucky.....

/s, well.... kinda

Props to the guy that went up to put a body on Kofi during that dunk. That was either brave or foolish.
The line between bravery and foolishness is usually more clear than the individual taking the action believes it is. That kid has a story now, but he had no prayer in the world of not looking like an idiot. I wish I were him.

It’s a win-win. Nobody on planet earth expects him to block that shot, but if he gets lucky and gets a piece then he has something to brag about forever.

I wonder what Kofi was yelling.....

Allowing a quick memory, years ago, on the outdoor courts, I jumped in front of Ervin Small to take a charge. Similar result (minus about 85 pounds). Of course, I was only 5'10" and 165 lbs.

We used to try that in pick up games with Keon Clark back in the day. No video evidence exists.....

I actually slipped under Eddie Johnson to get a layup at IMPE…he just laughed and pointed to me. I should of just quit playing right then.

Man I used to love playing in those games in the summer time at CRCE. Idk if ive ever played with anybody more athletic than Calvin Brock. Rebound the ball, 2-3 dribbles, take off to dunk.

Chester used to come in too, with Jeff Jordan, Rodney Alexander, Bill Cole etc. 5 regular dudes who could go in the gym vs the 5 from the team, best games I ever played in.
I played in a pickup game once at IMPE against Kendall Gill like 30 years ago.

Oops, sorry, let me correct that...I was on the court at the same time once at IMPE against Kendall Gill like 30 years ago.

I tried taking a charge from a 6'5" unit at the Y once and it messed my back up permanently. Haven't grabbed the rim since, not that it was ever easy.
Against Kofi? Discretion is the better part of valor. I like having an intact ribcage for the breathing.

Who tried to poke the ball away while Kofi took it to the hole? Great body position by Kofi, and weak defense. Once he made the corner it was over.

That was fun to watch --not a play I'd associate with Kofi. Good to see him able to take a dribble to the basket.

Right on Ransom. Most combat veterans, including me, will attest to being more foolish and naive than brave. Many dumb guys do a ton of smart things and many smart guys do/say a ton of dumb things. Reading this board is pretty good irrefutable proof of that as a fact.

He was just lucky he wasn’t able to get his hand above the rim.

This is cool

For those who aren't familiar, "its basic premise involves celebrities being interviewed by host Sean Evans over a platter of increasingly spicy chicken wings"
Hot One's is great.. I didn't even know he was a UofI Alum until like a season or 2 ago. Forgot the episode but it came up in one. I still need to order some of those sauces.

6-1, 185 me had to guard Junior year Simeon Rice in an intramural game. It was not very close, but he was a gentleman. He could have Shaq'd me on every possession, but was working on his footwork, fadeaways, etc., as I don't think we were within 40 points of them the entire second half. I think in total, there were 6 guys that played in the NFL on that team (Hardy, Howard, Holcolmb, Holocek [4H!], and a CB, I believe). That was just the guys I recognized. My team was my dorm floor. I was the best and tallest player on our team. UGLY.

Hate to run into a strong pick on that team.

Am I only one who thinks this year’s team will exceed last year’s team? I think right now we are a top ten team on paper as is. There are at least 7 positive developments that could occur, and I really think we only need 2-3 to hit in order to be a legit NC contender. Here is the list of possibilities, none of which I think are unrealistic:
1. Kofi becomes a more complete player from last year and improves FTs.
2. Belo becomes a competent (~30%) 3PT shooter.
3. Hutch is a key contributor.
4. OP exceeds his prior production at UF.
5. Coleman Hawkins takes a leap.
6. Plummer provides offensive firepower off the bench and has a sixth man of the year type season.
7. One of the freshman cracks the rotation.

Biggest weaknesses I see is
1. We are still small at the guard position, so longer teams from the SEC/PAC12 could pose matchup problems for us in the tourney,
2. Still somewhat undersized at the 4 (ie no bangers. But Verdonk could fill that role and that didn’t even make my list!)
3. Susceptible to a stretch 5.

I think good coaching and prudent rotations can cover up a lot of our weaknesses, and our shooting should cover up a lot of sins as well. Am I drinking too much Koolaid? I think we will be even better next year!

Has anyone heard of any NIL deals for Kofi at this point? What about Curbelo? I assumed these two would have signed some "significant" NIL deals at this point locally, with the possibility of some nation-wide deal appeal for Kofi? Maybe they have signed deals and I have just missed the announcements...
