Ayo was great. Especially at closing.

That said, this squad has much better depth and versatility. I believe our offense is going to be a nightmare (for our opponents) and we're not going to be going down to the wire nearly as often as last season.
We'll need a good amount of our "what if's" to hit for us to be truly better than last year but our depth, experience and shooting give us a great chance. Never works out that everyone takes the leap or performs how we expect but we at least aren't putting all our hopes on just 1-2 options.

This. We have myriad more ways to kill teams this season.

the fabled Austin Hutchinson replaces Adam Miller in the lineup. Omar replaces Giorgi.

We will miss our Batman 4th quarter closer Ayo but the Michigan blowout showed us there is a lot of talent on the team even with him out. Besides the Bulls need him!
Let's just hope everyone is relatively healthy.

Anyone in the know have anything on Kofi potentially being suspended for the first couple of games? Been hearing some things circulating around Twitter and IG that he could be suspended for selling stuff on The Player's Trunk.

Nope, but that seems like one of the dumbest conceivable hills for the NCAA to die on, unless they've already negotiated this behind the scenes to make it as painless to the U as possible.

Strange fact: Alan Griffin playing w Kahlil Whitney on The Rio Grande Valley Vipers, the NBA G League Affiliate of the Houston Rockets. File under blog category of Schadenfreude please

Other than losing out on NIL, has the NCAA died on any hills? No way Kofi sues over a short suspension, especially during the beginning of the year. Kofi will take his medicine if it's not too bad. Not sure what level would trigger action on our side.

Hopefully someone in Champaign is drafting a complaint for injunctive relief as we speak.

At least he's not playing with Sasha Stefanovic.

Oh I agree. I'm not sweating it, but clearly neither is the university.

I really don't have any problem with Griffin. He wanted to showcase his skills to make it to the NBA, something he wasn't going to do at Illinois. Things didn't go as well as he wanted, but he did have more exposure at Syracuse. I think he had some big games there. Basically, if an Illini player transfers and they don't act like Mark Smith, then I have no problems with them.

What’s interesting about Griffin is his defense is what was really holding him back from being an NBA prospect and he probably could have developed better as a 3 and D wing here rather than going and hiding in a zone. In the end, sounds like Boeheim got fed up with his defensive lapses as well. If I recall correctly, it was more an acrimonious relationship between parents and an overbearing mom driving the transfer more so than showcasing skills. In any event, correct no real hard feelings from me and I hope he figures it out. Has the length athleticism and shooting to make it to the league.

Kofi Cockburn Voted Big Ten Preseason Player of the Year

In addition, Cockburn and sophomore point guard Andre Curbelo have both been named to the 10-player Preseason All-Big Ten Team, with Cockburn a unanimous selection.

There's no way it'll be the whole season. I gotta think the longest it'll be is until conference play.
