It will all depend about when Curbelo comes back for good....if/when

I have been thinking about this for awhile but first time mentioning. IF Curbelo comes back this year and might depend on the timing....Would it be smart for Illinois to bring him off the bench for the rest of the year? A lot of things can change over a small amount of time. Love the chemistry with this team and seems like he could be the spark plug wherever you play him. If he returns in 2 weeks or 2 months I know could highly change the thought process.

He for sure comes off the bench. You don't mess with the starting lineup when you're winning. If Curbelo can create some Offense with Hawkins and Payne when Kofi is off the floor that would be hugely helpful. I know Hawk and Payne had great games tonight, but typically that is not a scoring lineup.

Holy smokes...I can't wait to see Curbelo leading a drive with CoHawk and Payne going up for oops. I can't believe this team has yet to reach its peak. This is awesome.

Nice to see a guard throwing a pass to Payne in a scoring position.

Hawkins reaching costs him PT. Valuable when he is on the floor

Seems like DMW is usually on the floor with Payne and other teams have been able to cover other 3 scorers.

Has anyone heard anything from the university about buying tickets through them to the conference tournament? Seems like we've generally gotten an email from them by now, but I haven't seen anything and I'm wondering if I missed something.

Cbssports.com has Alfonso ranked as the 4th best transfer so far this season after “[regrettably]” being “omitted from the offseason list of [85] top transfers.” Another example of this staff’s ability to identify talent. This also should help us recruit future transfers as Plummer was an unknown at Utah despite putting up good numbers there. The article references his “rise to stardom.”

Interesting stat. 3 point shooting: 2021-22
Jake 11/27 .407
Trent. 13/34. .382
Alph. 10/32. .313
DMW. 7/14. .500
Team. 44/121. .364

20-21. 133/364. .364
Percentage in conference games is exactly the same at this point although it would prorate to 176 for the year so at a higher rate. Alph’s rate down probably because he’s on top of the scouting report. Trent is the only higher rate (.358 last year). At this point we haven’t really proven we are a better three point shooting team.

Your own post says otherwise...

Idk if this should go here or the NIL thread but driving through town today and saw some new OSF billboards, one with Kofi and one with Damonte. Good to see some of the larger local business supporting the players.

This is interesting. We are shooting 30%+ more 3's per game this year than last year. 25.3 (22) vs 18.3(21). That's good, because staff said they want to spread the floor more to open up looks for Kofi and it's working because he's getting 30% more shots this year.

I suspect, in part, that is because Kofi has learned how to pass a lot better when he doesn't have a play. Somewhat counterintuitively, by passing back out to the perimeter more often, he can actually help create more opportunity under the basket for himself.

I tend to believe that it is because Ayo's shots from last year had to go somewhere.

Kofi's getting almost 4 shots more a game than last year. That is big when he's shooting over 60%. Only downside is his hands are soft and tend to be turnover prone. I like this year's offense better.
