We will definitely support Trent wherever he goes, hopefully he can get G-League love and can make an NBA roster. My boys will buy 3 of his jerseys and fly to see him. He’s beloved in the Illini Fam Home!
I’m going to the nba summer league this year. I’d love to see Trent play. Guys who can go on random heaters like he can become summer league darlings.

I agree. He has multiple ways of scoring as well as Luke does. We will be a better passing team which will give us easy baskets. With several scoring options, things will be easier for Kofi in the paint as well.
Plus he goes and gets the ball.

It’s just gonna be so weird without Trent next year. It will take a solid dozen games before it sinks in. Right around the Braggin Rights game
I'm gonna miss having him initiate our offense with that little hop-skip thing he does. One of those little peculiarities I became so accustomed to seeing, and typically followed by some smart play.

RJ reminds me of Peter Jok. Long, athletic, good shooter, can score from all 3 levels. He went from 7ppg as a sophomore to 16ppg as a junior.

And those Iowa teams didn't really have anyone else, except JBo chucking 3s.

To continue the Iowa comparison....imagine Jok, Garza, and Weiskamp on the same team. Could we have that with RJ, Kofi, and Goode? Plus all the other talent in this roster.... Man this could be a very scary team if all the pieces come together.

Agreed. Trent will always be one of my favorites (he was from Florida and had no connections to Illinois that I know of but committed to us and stayed loyal to us even thru a coaching change. Just an all class/stand up young man who I wish all the best to him)

This kid has an Ayo like work ethic. If he gets his full athleticism back from Fletch, could be a first round pick after year 2. Was told he wants to stay two years then go to the league
I love that Ayo has helped normalize staying for more than one year at Illinois.

I'm excited about both, but I don't know if I see Luke right now in terms of scoring as anything outside of spot shooting or pump fake and shot. I think he is going to be a heck of a player though. I think he will be solid defensively, unselfish and good passer, and tough nose player that can body up and get some boards. I do wonder if he maybe has some low post moves that he can utilize if he is against some 3's but not some 4's. I see some Joey Hauser in Luke Goode which is a good player.

RJ on other hand has star potential and next year depending on our team, I agree has potential to be a much better ball movement team without as many 1 way type players.

I need to go back and read the stuff people were predicting Mark Smith would do
It's O&B Koolaid hype season, where every incoming recruit is going to be the new Dee/Deron, and every freshman is going to make a big sophomore leap and the only problem is we got too many great players.. more than we know what to do with. Whoop Whoop!

So true!

Idk what to tell you guys other than the days of gloom & doom are no more. Given the direction of the program and it's recent results, combined with roster projections, the general outlook should be a pretty darn optimistic one, wouldn't you say?

Absolutely, the goal is to get back to those 00-06 days, where you knew every year the tournament was a given and that you'd have a ranked team with a lot of talent. Next year goes according to plan and that could be four straight ranked seasons, which is wonderful to think about. I'm still a bit shellshocked from the previous decade though where it seemed like everything that could go wrong did go wrong, which holds me back from putting too much into getting hopes too high, we'll be replacing a lot of players next year, on paper there are guys who can step in, question is will they?

If Epps is ready to defend, it will be very hard for BU to keep him off the floor. I am going from leading the Hutch/Curbelo Hype train to the Epps Hype train. I think we have a reallllll good one in Jayden.
This is one of the main reasons I would like a transfer guard that is a good-great defender. Give our talented freshmen guards somebody to learn from and be challenged by, and a fail-safe in case they are slow to learn the system/principles. A transfer guard like Plummer that is offense-only would not be a good fit imo.

Also think defense is another reason Brad's not going to be able to keep Ty from seeing a good amount of playing time. Typical freshmen blind spots (defense, passing, cajones) are the things I'm least concerned about with him.
