This might be a hot take, but I think of all the recruits, Skyy included, I predict Ty will have the biggest impact on our team, and biggest NBA potential.

I think when I watch his tape from HS, you can tell sometimes with some kids;!Like they’re just on ANOTHER LEVEL. Not just good and cooking guys- Skyy, Epps and Harris’s tapes look like this. But just huge and dominating dudes. (I know this might be slightly biased based on his size) Like he could slide into an NBA team right now. I feel that way watching top draft picks HS tape, ala Paolo Banchero.

If all these recruits stayed 2 years, which I don’t expect necessarily, but if they did… I think we’d be looking up and seeing Ty making the biggest impact, the biggest headlines, and making NBA scouts salivate.

Ty is a Nick Anderson-like guy at that age - good things to come...

There are so many minutes up for grabs next year, really excited to see who earns them.

Can’t imagine Epps/Skyy manage to take all the minutes at the 1 and 2 we lost from Frazier/Plummer/Curbelo, very hopeful Podz and/or Harris can step up and give us a great 3-4 man rotation there.

The wing is a little more interesting. Grandison and Damonte are gone. TSJ would be huge, and gotta assume RJ and Goode will get a ton of burn here too. Ty looks like a baller, could see him getting a ton of time at the 3/4.

Kofi/Hawkins/Danja look to get most of the big men minutes.

That would give us a great 10 man rotation. Don’t see anyone averaging 30+ minutes a game other than Kofi, unlike last year when we relied so heavily our seniors, with Frazier, Plummer, Damonte and Grandison approaching or above 30/game.

Knock on wood, assuming Kofi is back and we get TSJ. The biggest issues for next year look to be.

1. Ballhandling. If we don't get a veteran, we're leaning on two freshmen pg's, so there will certainly be growing pains. Will TSJ/Podz be able to help relieve pressure while they acclimate?
2. Perimeter defense- No one will be able to replace Trent and Damonte but we should be longer overall which hopefully will eventually compensate.
3. Shooting- Counting on big jumps from RJ/Goode/Coleman/Podz TSJ should help as well. Don't know what if anything we can expect from Skyy/Epps.

Right now (assuming Kofi is back) you can count on 4 starters being penciled in (with a great bench)
PG: Skyy
SG: ?
SF: RJ
PF: Coleman
C: Kofi
If we can't snag TSJ I think I'd be happy throwing Ty Rodgers in the starting lineup at the wing. I'd like to think next years team shoots the 3 at a better clip than we saw down the stretch in March this past year.

Wouldn't be surprised if Ty cracks the starting lineup nor if @GallopingGhost is spot on about his upside, but I think Goode is getting a bit overlooked in these projections. He played more minutes than RJ this year after all, and by a substantial margin, which has to mean something. He's also a great 5th starter for providing spacing around Kofi.

What will be great about this team is we will be able to mix and match players throughout the lineup and not lose much. Teams will have a hard time scouting us as we have multiple weapons.

Does anybody know if Illinois reached out to Mark Sears? Curious if there was any interest there. Would have been a really nice pickup. Shot 41% from 3 this year while averaging 19 points/game. Realize he just committed to Alabama.

Silly question, but is Hutch coming back? I know it seems like he was never here but I recall hearing he was the most athletic player on the team when he first transferred. Is he done with us? Done with basketball? Or is he on scholly next year?

Can you see staff risking another year of scholarship on a guy who hasn't been able to play?
