Chrissy was highly underrated as a basketball player.....

Dainja is certainly intriguing. While it's a bit scary he never got off the Bench at Baylor, it's good to know that he's been with the team for a while, so he's not a complete unknown to our coaching staff who is only relying on footage from elsewhere (the way it would have been with Payne last year for instance), so that if they think he is capable to Start and aren't overly concerned about that spot (assuming they aren't bluffing) that is reassuring.

He will be one of the biggest lynchpins to our success this year given that Nance is looking less likely. Will be a lot of pressure going from bench player to starter and being our only big body option. Needs to control fouls and be conditioned enough to play ~30 mins from day 1. Fingers crossed all the positive coach speak comes to fruition.

I agree. Videos of him blowing by a flat footed defender don’t really impress me. But we really need him to be a player and the staff seems high on him. I really, really, hope it works out. I also hope we can grab another quality big for some insurance.

Trusting the staff hype but still need another big. Need a three man rotation with Dain and Hawk. Nance ideal but am hoping for a plan B.

I’m climbing on the Dainja Hype Train 🚂

Defenses will shut him down consistently. It’s the same move every time.

An edit…yes, it was a joke, but then I thought of the tone of the board at times and thought I’d better cover my bases.
I am intrigued like the rest of Illini Nation regarding his mobility, handles, and touch for a big with a 7’7” wingspan.

For the sake of argument, can we get a few more savvy prognosticator's to give us a minutes per game breakdown that includes Nance? Pretty please.

I'd be very surprised if Nance did not sign a two way deal with someone in the league. A lot more money there now to be had.

Ty Rodgers starts USA Basketball U18 trials and training camp on May 26. Camp ends on June 2 with a 12 man (out of 27) team. Camp is in Houston.
