Exactly what I expect to see from him in an Illini uniform. My gut feeling is that Rodgers is around because he will defend his behind off, play unselfishly, and not pout if he doesn't get major minutes.

I agree with this, you can't field a team of all power forwards which is a position that tends to be ranked highly on 247. And you also can't have a team full of guys who need the ball in their hands to make an impact or vice versa. I just wanted to let people know the quality of player that Rodgers is a part of on this team, not that he should be ranked any differently.I would remind people that constructing a roster for these types of events isn't all about picking the 12 best basketball players, but rather picking the best basketball team. I won't pretend to be an expert on any of these guys' games, but you don't want a bunch of alpha/high usage players. You need guys who will buy in to a team concept and fill a role too. You can't build a team identity if everyone on the team thinks they should be "the guy".
My gut feeling is that Rodgers is around because he will defend his behind off, play unselfishly, and not pout if he doesn't get major minutes. I wouldn't read too much into whether or not he deserves to be ranked higher based on his inclusion on this team or other guys should drop because of their omission.
Still, it's an awesome opportunity to play against some very high level competition, gain some valuable life experience, as well as confidence.
When did they go to the Elite Eight?Yeah man they went to the elite 8 they trash
2021When did they go to the Elite Eight?
They literally won one more game in the tourney than Illinois did.
His video clips show a lot of mid range shots. Defenses tend to focus on the rim and three pointers. Mid range shots are much easier to get and Ayo feasted on those. Hawk had a lot of open opportunities there and passed them up. Love to see a player taking advantage of open opportunities.I agree that those things are not mutually exclusive. I don't really know if he is under-rated, over-rated, or properly rated. I just felt the conversation was on a trajectory to point out that he MUST be better than guys who did not make the cut.
I think the problem with Rodgers, and his rating is that the skills he is best at are often under-rated. Not being an elite shooter is really the only thing keeping him in the 50's. (Scorers tend to get the headlines and the ratings) He is really good at everything else.
Anyone know where we can catch the games once the tournament starts?
2021 which is relevant because the post I replied to basically said once belein left Michigan sucked. I guess an elite 8 is going down hill from final four and NC game appearances. If that’s a case it’s a downhill I’d like to experience. When did they go to the Elite Eight?

for good or for bad, their coach has done pretty well since then tooOut of curiosity, I tracked where the 2018 U18 team was today, and I was blown away! 6 current NBA; additional 4 with really good college careers; and 2 starters/players but maybe not standouts yet. That's a testament to the USA selection process...
In the NBA Now:
Ayo Dosunmu
Cole Anthony
Quentin Grimes
Jeremiah Robinson-Earl
Coby White
Tyrese Maxey
NBA Radar:
Armando Bacot
Trayce Jackson-Davis
Josiah James
NBA G-League:
Matthew Hurt
College Starter:
Kamaka Hepa
Mark Watts Jr.

I would certainly say he’s the closest, but there’s a fine line between star and superstar and I don’t see Skyy as one and done and a top 10 pick. Or I should say, he’s not projected there CURRENTLY. He has a ton of talent, but I think it would be premature to call him a top 5 player in college (first team all American) or a consensus 2023 lottery pick. He COULD be there, but he’s not Cade Cunningham or Chet holgrem level. And that’s perfectly fine - just saying that I would agree we don’t have a superstar of that level.Unless Skyy is hurt he is a superstar talent,he can do things on the court that Ayo will never be able to do. And like I said before until he got hurt he was ranked up there with the Duke and Kentucky burger boys, and oh yeah he was a Kentucky commit until we stole him
If you're going to quote me, do it correctly. I was referring to dominos starting to fall in their program towards mediocrity or worse 'sucking if you will'. If you would like to experience that kind of downhill, remember well. In Bruce Weber's 2nd year, he took us to a 37-2 record with players that he didn't recruit and the national title game. Then, after those players graduated, the program began a slide to a level I had not seen since watching Illinois basketball since 1979. By the time Self's players left, we averaged 19 wins a year for 5 years. Kinda sounds like Michigan right now.2021 which is relevant because the post I replied to basically said once belein left Michigan sucked. Illini are ranked too low in this list.Checking in at #25 in ESPN's latest too-early top 25.
They're obviously not up to speed with board thinking on the projected starting five.
