We gonna see some Brandon Lieb this year?
against Edey, for sure you'll see him out there potentially. I'm not saying for a long time, but he's a change of pace player that could throw a little wrinkle into the system. Again, not saying I see him with many minutes, but I do think there is more space/time for him now that BBV and Kofi are gone. Zach P is a development piece (like Brandon is/was) and Brandon might be the more trusted option.

I threw this list out when I see TJD at #8. I think it is mostly about the preseason IU hype. TJD is good but not #8 good in the nation.

Dickie V was great 30 years ago, have never liked Harrelson. Walton and Gus Johnson definitely on my A-List. Always liked Dakich too but he's become pretty tedious
Say it with me....*Gus Johnson voice*: AFFLALO!!!!!!

One places take on the top 100 players in CBB

B1G Players:

52. Cliff Omoruyi - Rutgers
56. Xavier Johnson - IU
61. Matthew Mayer - Illinois
73. Tanner Holden - OSU
82. Terrence Shannon - Illinois

Mayer rated higher than #72 Nance. Also none of the transfers out made the list.

I hate Dickinson and TJD as much as the next guy but to those of you acting like they aren't good at basketball,

They're good. FWIW Torvik had Dickinson at #6 and TJD at #11 in his NPOY rankings at the end of last season, and ranks them as #1 and #2 in the conference (#4 and #7 nationally) in projected PORPAGATU! (his efficiency stat which is meant to be equivalent to WAR) this upcoming season.

He might be able to play 3 or 4 minutes of post defense and not hurt you.

Wouldn't it be fun this fall to see all five of our freshman on the court at one time? Not for many minutes of course, and not in a game that's remotely competitive. But how about a few minutes in early-season blowouts? Just for 5 minutes or so. I think that would be fun to see. Let's remember, college basketball is part of the entertainment industry.

You'll definitely see 3 to 4 of them out there at one time in the exhibitions

I mean, of course, you're right. We definitely view them with orange-colored glasses. It's hard not to when we compare them to our two-time All-American center. Plus, they both have pretty obvious fatal flaws. Hunter runs like a t-rex and can easily get out-muscled by smaller players. TJD can't shoot and tends to shrink in their biggest games.

I'm sure the stats prove they are not just good, but very good. But also, there really is no world where I'm going to properly rate a Hoosier or a Wolverine. As an Illini fan, I'm pretty unabashed about that.

Nice, pretty much one per team. And then there's us.

Perrin and Lieb are not the same kind of developmental piece. Illinois would not recruit Lieb this year. He was a true project. Perrin has had success internationally against older players. One guru has him projected entering the 2024 draft.

Totally different types of players. Lieb was a project, Perrin a higher rated young player who needs strength but has better skills. I don’t mean that Lieb couldn’t provide a few minutes, but realistically, Lieb and Perrin are in a battle for the 11th man this season.
