I have been watching all the developments on this forum. I have seen the tremendous recruiting successes. I have learned about the coach's decision to rework the offensive philosophy to address the current roster and evolve to a more NBA style of attack. I have heard reports that our new team will be elite defensively. I have come to understand that the transfer players really like it here, are melding nicely with the team, new coaches and very talented incoming frosh. And, we have very talented incoming frosh.

Having learned these things I will make this statement: we are going to be very good this year, maybe even better than the optimists on this site would think.
I can't wait for the season to begin so as to see all these great factors come together for real.
Lets effin go.

Agee. My hope is we will be absolutely exhausting to play against this year. Our starting 5 will have length and switch ability on defense. But then our likely first 3 guys off the bench (Goode, Rodgers, Epps) are all dogs. You let up on Goode for a second, he will get an o rebound or bury a 3, you let up on Epps he’s getting a bucket, and you’d better not let up for one second on Ty Rodgers or he’s going to find a way to beat you.

It will take some time to build rapport, particularly on defense. But I am really looking forward to watching this year’s team.

Kinda off topic question but figured this was the best place because I think I’ve seen it mentioned here before. Does anybody know where our coaches get their orange blazers from? I’ve moved up a seat at my orange and blue school, and I’d like to start that tradition on the sidelines for big games.

I figured if I’m gonna do it, I’m gonna do it right, and try to get it from THE place. Hopefully they’ll ship to Texas.

Congrats on the promotion!

You could write the above scenario/commentary about most teams in college basketball. We have some nice talent, but we're hardly an anomaly.

FWIW, I think Dain will be one of the first three guys off the bench.

Dain or Hawkins - Which ever one doesn't start.

As far as switchability, I think we are better than lots of teams. Also, while every teams have talent, not every B1G team has potential all B1G team talents like us on every positions. We definitely look good on paper. Hopefully it will work out beautifully.

Bring on basketball! Practice starts later this month!

But...BASKETBALL!! Love this team...Love this era... Love this coaching staff! Already planning to go to the Big10 tournament in Minneapolis next March. There will be ups and downs with this young dynamic team, but they'll never be BORING.

GO ILLINI...BASKETBALL!

Deon Thomas was taking some of the players around from tailgate to tailgate. I assume it is an NIL deal. According to their bios, each of these guys will appear at your tailgate for $172: https://opendorse.com/profile/luke-goode
Opendorse lists Goode as a shooting guard, so we should definitely see him this year at the 2
