You are right, my Italian is a bit rustyI think he was 0-5 from the field and 0-1 on 3s but still not good
I don't think I am worried. Whether Skyy performs as a scorer remains to be seen, but he was a top 10 recruit before he lost some athleticism due to injury. Were people concerned when John wall, Derrick rose, Kyrie irving, etc. came in? I would imagine that Skyy is pretty much on their (age 19) level when it comes to handles.Lots of really positive stuff in there to get us excited as fans. My concern is still at pg. Goodman mentioned in the interview that Epps turned the ball over multiple times in practice. Maybe our defense is awesome this year and nobody will have an easy time bringing it up the floor. Not really sure but having 2 point guards that are true freshman with no real backup is a bit concerning. I wish they would could have found a veteran in the portal.
I agree not being overly worried about PG......I'm sure BU and staff are on top of it and will do everything possible to instill as much confidence as they can and help smooth the learning curve in transition from HS to college for Skyy , Epps and others they call upon to be the PG or multiple PG's on the court.....I don't think I am worried. I think we'll be fine, if everyone plays hard and as a team. We have a lot of talent.
Having seen Wall play at the Bass Pro Tournament in high school, I can honestly say I have never seen anyone with a handle and quickness to the rim. Now, as a shooter, he leaves a lot to be desired. But he could get to the rim anytime he wanted and finish. Ted Dupay was just as impressive. Dupay had handle, quickness, range to 35 ft as any elite shooter....but was just too short for the NBA.I don't think I am worried. Absolutely. Our guards have a collective total of 0 minutes of college basketball experience. Maybe they'll be ok, but there are plenty of recent examples of 5-star freshman struggling with the college game. The Johnnies being good enough to make for fun Big East games at MSG would be great.
But here's a prompt: If you could wave a magic wand and Curbelo is back on the Illini for this year, would you do it?

There are not a lot of teams with 5 players for whom you can have non-ridiculous conversations about their potential NBA future, even if this board goes way way too far with it.T-Rank - Customizable College Basketball Tempo Free Stats - T-Rank

Bart Torvik is projecting Illini as the 4th most talented team in college bb.
Big 10 teams comprise 3 of his top 7 in projected talent level (not counting UCLA and USC, who are also in his top 7).
I agree with the majority of this post. My separation from it is my thinking this season’s player mix and anticipated uptick in tempo would have suited Belo’s game far better than what we saw the past two years.I LOVE Belo. I have ridden for him as much as anyone on here. I was genuinely disappointed when he left. With that said, I would not want him on this team. He made his choice. I think it was a wise one for both him and the program. Despite the talent, sometimes a change of scenery is just incredibly necessary for everyone involved.
I genuinely love the versatility of this team. We have a lot of guys that can initiate the offense. We have a lot of guys that can shoot. We have a tremendous amount of length. And I do think Skyy and Epps are going to come extremely good for us.
I wish Belo nothing but the best. I am absolutely going to make an effort to watch St. John's this season. I hope we face them in the tournament and I hope Skyy completely dominates Belo in every facet of the game if it happens.
Only 3 BIG + games, all within a month.

But most teams are also not one true freshman's ACL tear recovery hitting a speed bump away from their entire roster of point guards and centers being Dain Dainja and Brandon Lieb.
It's a roller coaster, man!
Curbelo cuts to the inside, makes a ridiculous pass to TSJ who then proceeds to make an incredible dunk, and State Farm Center erupts. Wash. Rinse. Repeat.I agree with the majority of this post. I viewed him as having a pass-first mentality, and I believe his ability to collapse defenses and create lanes & shots for teammates would have given this particular squad of long, aggressive, athletic kids a plethora of easy scores.

Best news all off season????!!!!
Could only be eclipsed by news of Larry S hanging it upBest news all off season????!!!!
No mo' Bo? Say it ain't so!
Kinda expecting the same when Skyy and Ty are 'pointing' no matter where they areCurbelo cuts to the inside, makes a ridiculous pass to TSJ who then proceeds to make an incredible dunk, and State Farm Center erupts. Wash. Rinse. Repeat.
This definitely could have happened.

I was there too in Springfield Mo! Small world...Having seen Wall play at the Bass Pro Tournament in high school, I can honestly say I have never seen anyone with a handle and quickness to the rim. I simply need to see Skyy play to have an informed opinion. I hope he is the best ever in college and NBA, but from what I know, which is little, he has a learning curve and some skill development to tackle. After all, he has proven to only be a very good player against high school competition. Give him time and maybe he will prove on the court that he is elite....which is the only thing that counts for anything.
That said, I am ready to become his biggest fan.
Torvik predicts us as 22-8. I would be very happy with that and suspect that a good number of those 8 would come early while the team was figuring things out. Super excited!T-Rank - Customizable College Basketball Tempo Free Stats - T-Rank
