It appears that we are playing what I call "5 on 5". With the multiple substitutions it is difficult to develop a team chemistry. I think this is what we are going to see until we find that 7 (or 8) players that can accomplish the needed chemistry. Right now, I see players more prepared to pass than shoot, thus I see us passing up good shots. With this slight hesitation the defense has time to respond and the opportunity for a confident shot is lost. If you can't consistently make that shot, then substitute. We are a bad offensive team right now. Really poor ball and player movement. That is consistent with the past 5 seasons, so not sure we can expect huge improvement here
TOP 10 PROGRAM!!!Just a thought about the "public conversation" between Underwood & players "Mayer". I think this comes naturally along with NIL.
Since players are now free agents and get paid to play, they now have more power over their own future. I personally side with coach Underwood on this one. His style wins games and develops players. But, players can market themselves for better opportunities now. Mayer is a senior and has tons of talent, so his little comments hurts no one it's just going to be more a part college sports now.
I believe Underwood is trying to develop each player to be the best player they can be and to continue their professional career. His record over the past couple years for developing players is great, so I am ok with is "tough love" style. I also think he recruits kids that can handle this style of coaching.
Interesting factoid. Doesn't lose any hope for me, as the schedule still looks favorable. No team has won the BIG Championship in the last 25 years that started the conference season 0-2.

Just heard this, came here for official word! Hopefully he can help.Perrin joining team immediately https://fightingillini.com/news/2022/12/20/mens-basketball-perrin-joins-fighting-illini.aspx
If he can hit FTs, that would be an improvement over at least one of our bigsEven if he never plays it seems like good timing to have some new foreign guy at practice to just shuffle the vibes
funny to me that IL serves as the “official word” over a statement released directly from the programJust heard this, came here for official word! Hopefully he can help.

I'd take the under, barring injury. We have enough issues playing together with the guys who have been in practice for months...Anyone think that 5-8 minutes per game is actually a realistic possibility from Perrin, this year?
