Hope he can find a way to get mental peace. I cannot imagine what college players go through mentally. It takes a special person to block the outside world and have confidence. I am sure winning helps over losing
Kudos to Pat for being "out" with his issues. Anxiety can be absolutely crippling, and I can't imagine going through it under the kind of spotlight he has, plus being the son of that particular coach. As some of the comments on his tweet demonstrate, there's an element of our society that sees anxiety as a weakness rather than a disorder, and now he has to put up with that.

I hate Iowa, I'm inclined to hate anyone named McCaffery, but I hope the Krush treats him with some dignity the next time the Squawks are in the HoP.

Pretty clearly says he gets to play basketball this month. I don't think you have to read that as games, but certainly basketball activities.
Per UW press conference they are still waiting for approval in week or so for him to start practice activity. Sounds like late January at best.

I agree...I feel bad for him, anxiety is brutally difficult for anybody but it must be considerably worse in the limelight. I hope he (and his family, including Fran) gets the support he needs.

Its got to be hard to play for your dad. He is a polarizing and demanding coach. As much as I despise Iowa, I hope Patrick gets he help he needs.

This was my first thought. Plus, I'm sure he has to hear it from everyone if his dad looks unhinged on TV. Poor kid
I wonder if Fran ever gets equally unhinged at home. It must be interesting to grow up with a father like that one.

I'd hope not. I'd hope he just get caught up in the intensity of the game and yells, not unlike me yelling at the TV despite my husband's reassurances that no one there can actually hear me.

I just imagine the internet bullying could be hard to deal with, even if you shut off notifications and make your inbox private.

Prediction on when Perrin gets his first playing time? This season (I say yes).

If Perrin gets minutes this year in anything other than garbage time, we are in big trouble.
Why? Are we saving him for a fifth year or something? My bet is that he won't be around enough years for the "loss' of this year's eligibility to make any difference.

How many practices have you been to?

0 -- but I'm pretty confident that a freshman big that joins us midway through the year isn't getting major minutes unless we are in severe foul trouble or Dain gets hurt (thus being in big trouble).

back pedal? Huge difference between major minutes and non-garbage time minutes.

I have no idea if Perrin's gonna get non-garbage/non-emergency minutes. But if he does, I'm confident he'll have earned them.

Typo on my part. I'd be surprised if he leaps above Lieb on the depth chart for the rest of the year.

Next year is obviously a different story.

The tone from BU has seemed to be tamping down expectations for Perrin getting any playing time. He has very clearly said he is a good player but is nowhere close to being ready to be on the floor and probably won't be any time soon. Doesn't want to put him in a position where he is hurting the team because he doesn't know what he is doing. Doubt he gets there at all this season. The freshman typically have several months of practices before even the exhibition games to get ready.

I have about 10 negative thoughts is my head about this years team. But at 0-3 in the B10, the best we can do is ....

Ruin it for other teams , we can beat anyone.
Just make it in the dance, and we can still make some real noise.

I like your optimism. It's not like we lost to great or even good teams. These stacked up as two of our easier home games. It gets much harder.

Technically the Northwestern game was a true road game, but your point remains valid. The loss tonight makes the game against Wisconsin on Saturday a near must win to keep the wheels from completely falling off.

We are the football equivalent of Texas A&M football right now - very good talent but disorganized and not well led. Under BU we have always struggled offensively against teams that play with any sort of discipline on defense - our player and ball movement have been consistently poor. We were able to mask this by having an incredibly clutch talent in Ayo and a once in a generation post presence in Kofi. Now that those players are gone his coaching weaknesses are magnified.

In the past, BU has been good at modifying his approach - a good example is how he changed his defensive philosophy here during his second year. I hope he can do the same with the offense this year. If he can and if the team responds, we still have the potential to be dangerous come March.

So can we go back to our pack line defense instead of this chaotic passing lane turnover driven, leave your man wide open on the 3, aggressive fouling defense? You made the change in 2019 Brad and it made all the difference, hoping he does the same. Maybe it'll keep our legs under us on the offensive side if we aren't killing our stamina on defense.
