Going back to Skyy rumors and BUs comments, if BU really believes that he doesn’t need a PG and that all parts are interchangeable…..

Hard to envision Skyy and CoHawk as interchangeable.

Watching the Flying Illini games, that was as close to a set of interchangeable parts as we have ever had, but this team is no Flying Illini.

Go Illini, kill the Kats

This is going to make a huge difference for this team imo. Leadership and composure on the court! I’ve said it before but Goode is the closest thing to the culture we are used to from what we had with Frazier. All is well with Illini basketball as this is where we turn the corner…. Right?

Goode's return is going to be a boon, no doubt. But he's coming off a broken foot. No telling how his progression's going to go, especially the amount of time needed to reach 90+% health and game shape and being in sync with the team (Underwood has a lot to do with the latter too).

Goode brings a lot, but he's not a facilitator. Facilitating has been shaky, at best. 'Course, facilitating looks a whole lot better when the shot goes in, lol.

That’s a lot to pile on the shoulders of one player, esp one recovering from an injury and hasn’t played since when. Messiahs are biblical, not basketball.

I would like to see three or four of our other older players show some leadership.

Offensively they weren’t that interchangeable. Bardo was clearly the PG, Gill the 2, Anderson the 3, Battle 4, and Hamilton the 5.

OTOH defensively they were fairly interchangeable, especially Battle, Bardo, and Gill.

I think since they were all in 6’4-6’7 range, the interchangeable narrative took hold.

Yep, good call.
I think that’s pretty much right on…

Some really intelligent guy posted this a couple days before Christmas. I attach it here because it’s essentially, my sentiments exactly:

Is the bolded a coded message?
If it is, I can’t figure out whether that’s good or bad for us…

Here’s hoping there are Orange & Blue Skyys ahead!

I think it's his attitude/intensity we are missing more than his ability (and I say that knowing we also miss his shooting ability).

All good points from everyone, but this is definitely the biggest missing piece of our season thus far. The rest will hopefully come in due time as Goode works to get healthy.

Goode is not a savior, and the sentiment to not put too many expectations on him is right. But he has the best shooting stroke of anybody on team, and is a very confident shooter. He was 37% from three last year and we could sure use another guy to count on while the others hopefully get back on track. And he is a toughness leader by example and vocal on the court.

We are 36/131 (27%) in our last 5 games from three.

We switched the lineup and roles to more traditional sets and have made a conscious decision last game to go inside more with good success. It was good adjustment by staff. Credit to them and the players making the change to get back on track.

The five out everybody has a green light was not working. Long scoring droughts.
A lot of standing around and lack of ball movement, and too much dribbling east west.
Maybe too much to try with all the new pieces, or we do not have enough penetrators and shooters to make it work.

Need to keep taking threes, but within the flow of offense and off OFF rebounds.
Take more threes from positions where and when we have better chance to make them.

You may have missed, as I did, that the tweet was dated December 28, 2021 and not 2022. I don't know what the tweet meant, but I am pretty sure it is not connected to the current rumors.
