Without doing research, I would guess we are the only unranked team with 2 Top Ten wins.
Looking at our metrics I wanted to compare us to 3 current top 25 I pulled the numbers without knowing the results. which team currently has the best resume?

Team A. Team b Team C. Team d
SOS 70. 29. 106. 54
Quad 1 4-1. 2-3. 2-0. 5-1
Quad 2 1-0. 3-2. 2-1. 0-1
Quad 3 3-0. 1-0 4-0 3-1
Quad 4 7-2. 6-0 6-0 6-0

Made my first post earlier and mentioned the Underwood January turnarounds. Had to include the 2018-19 team on that list. Some of you may have been confused, but that team finished 84th in Kenpom that year. They went 12-21.

I went back on Kenpom and found the highest rated Kenpom team with 21 losses in a season back to 2002..that Illinois team was the highest rated Kenpom team with 21+ losses in the past 20 years.

Glad I waited to make my account until mid-January, the Underwood magic is unfolding. We're going to win so many games this year. Enjoy the ride.

Wasn’t sure where to put this but would like to attend big ten tourney as I just moved back to Chicago. Big ten website is making it a bit difficult to understand where to purchases all session passes. I am in line on the link to the United center ticket office but it is also saying you can purchase through conference ticket office. Any insight or advice would be appreciated.

Big Ten Tournament tickets will go on sale in less than an hour, today at 11:00am CT.

From the bigten.org link below sounds like the individual schools have the best seats. I haven't seen anything from IlliniMBB promoting their own B1G Tournament ticket allotment, either they're all sold out or they'll promote them today at 11am CT.

The link for general public tix including all session (which sounds like the link you found) is here, it should place you in the waiting area then can purchase around 11am CT-

Does MM still fast prior to games? How does Fletch feel about that?

I know very early in the process, but this caught my eye (Illini as 6 seed vs 11 seed Kentucky). No way Kentucky ends up being an 11 seed. This would be about as tough of a first round matchup you could get.

Updated Illini resume with today's NET rankings:

Record: 13-5
NET Ranking: #21
SOS Ranking: #30
Q1 Record: 2-3
Q2 Record: 3-2
Q3 Record: 2-0
Q4 Record: 6-0

W vs. #336 Eastern Illinois (Q4)
W vs. #230 Kansas City (Q4)
W vs. #358 Monmouth (Q4)
W vs. #6 UCLA (Las Vegas, NV) (Q1)
L vs. #15 Virginia (Las Vegas, NV) (Q1)
W vs. #328 Lindenwood (Q4)
W vs. #106 Syracuse (Q3)
L at #52 Maryland (Q1)
W vs. #10 Texas (New York, NY) (Q1)
L vs. #51 Penn State (Q2)
W vs. #348 Alabama A&M (Q4)
L vs. #53 Missouri (St. Louis, MO) (Q2)
W vs. #351 Bethune-Cookman (Q4)
L at #59 Northwestern (Q1)
W vs. #66 Wisconsin (Q2)
W at #93 Nebraska (Q2)
W vs. #43 Michigan State (Q2)
W at #214 Minnesota (Q3)

Remaining Games
vs. #32 Indiana (Q2)
vs. #23 Ohio State (Q1)
at #66 Wisconsin (Q1)
vs. #93 Nebraska (Q3)
at #35 Iowa (Q1)
vs. #214 Minnesota (Q4) ... damn, OSU! :ROFLMAO:
vs. #17 Rutgers (Q1)
at #51 Penn State (Q1)
at #32 Indiana (Q1)
vs. #59 Northwestern (Q2)
at #23 Ohio State (Q1)
vs. #75 Michigan (Q2 ... barely)
at #4 Purdue (Q1)

So, we have EIGHT opportunities left for Quad 1 wins, and we just really need to avoid completely laying an egg at home vs. Nebraska or (especially) Minnesota.

A Few Notes
- Lmao, thanks for the Quad 3 win, Boeheim! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
- As much as it sucks, we should root for Mizzou to not implode ... they rise just three spots, and our loss to them is Quad 1.
- Conversely, I don't really care about Michigan for a resume (they suck and we only play them once), and I hate how they've done well in the Tournament while we've been a better overall program ... I hope they miss March Madness and drop as low as can be.
- Not sure why Wisconsin is so low, but I hope they stabilize. That is a nice win for us, and I really think we can win in Madison ... we need them in the top 75 for that to be a Quad 1 win.
- It would be nice for Indiana to eventually sneak back into the top 30 so our demolition of them could be a Quad 1 win this Thursday!

Moral of the story is that we are in an ASTONISHINGLY good spot now as far as resumes go, considering where this team was after the NU loss!

Lots of (rightful) talk about the poor officiating across the big ten. Late block in the OSU game, Edey ripping Sissoko’s arm off, and the Coleman charge all in a 7ish day period.

My question: is the big ten reffing really that much worse than other conferences?

This is the 4th straight year of starting the season 13-5

Expectations have gone up dramatically over the last few seasons and this is a different squad than past years. Nice mix of veterans and young guys that should only get better as the season goes on. Hopefully we can keep this squad healthy, get everyone back and see what magic they can put on the court.

Don’t get me wrong, from the eye test, I do think the big ten is down. But I’m curious how the conferences compare statistically to one another. For example, what are the records against each other?

I'm not sure about records but torvik ranks the conferences. He has the B12 as the best conference by far, then the B1G at 2.

This thread is as good as any for help in answering a question that I would like answered. It may have been asked and answered prior on some board or interview, but I have not seen it

The question pertains to DD and the skills he shows night after night....skills I have not seen exhibited by any other player in 68 years of experience with the game of basketball. Those skills seem to be repeated game after game and no one has had any success in thwarting his moves...simply because they are so diverse and can be repeated in either direction. Not only does DD have unsurpassed speed and touch within 8 ft. of the basket, but he can go either way equally effectively and score with either hand. He has averaged a bit over 6 shots per game and has made 72% of those shots!!!! Who else comes even close to consistently performing with that kind of skill...especially an inside player who is 6' 9"...not 7' 4". To put that in better perspective, Zach Edey has attempted almost twice as many shots, but is converting more than 10% less!!!! And there are very few players of Edey's size ever to play the game and I have seen none as skilled at making those shots with 3 guys hanging on.......except for DD!!!

My question is how and from whom did he get the coaching and motivation to develop his elite offensive skills? Did he get help in high school or earlier? Was it at Baylor? (I doubt that as they seemed totally unaware of his potential..but I sure don't know that to be true.) I've seen HS tape that shows elite ability for handle, movement, court vision, and passing skills that few, if any, five stars possess. So when and how did those skills get attention and development? Was it in Champaign?

Maybe someone can answer the questions, but I would love to hear DD posed the question in an interview so if anyone knows a media person who could pose the question to him, I think Illini Nation would be grateful to hear the answer. I know I would.

Anyone?

Just call the ticket office. They can reprint them at the ticket office if you haven't got them. But call and verify.

Same with Sagarin Big 12 #1, Big 10 #2 and ACC #6! The ACC has really fallen off of a cliff.
Louisville and Syracuse - 2 schools with a lot of wins and both have national titles. A lot less scary without those 2 being top 15-20 teams.

You may be overselling Dain just a tad, but he's very, very good - especially for a redshirt Freshman.

He has said in interviews that going up against Kofi last year in practice was a tremendous aid in his development. I suspect he had to come up with quicker footwork and varied release points to find success against the best center in college BB at that time - kind of like when a younger kid grows up playing one on one with a bigger, older brother. You develop some creativity. No doubt the weight loss makes him feel lighter on his feet, as well.

I, too, would be interested to hear how he answers the rest of your questions - his passing, etc. I hope he sticks around long enough for us to see his full college potential. It's going to be wild!
