I'm usually watching games with no sound at the bar with an Illini brother, so I had not heard Dain referred to as the "Dancing Bear." I think it's great. I would like to have him paired with a great vertical leaper we can call "Captain Kangaroo." Ty's quickness off the floor make him a candidate. Not advocating for the moniker in reality, just revelling in a reference that goes all the way back to my childhood...which is way back.

I think of something completely different when I hear "dancing bear":

I really think that the schizophrenic nature of our team is going to make us hard to prepare for in the ncaa tournament. We don’t dominate in any category, but we can do a little of everything. We can shoot some 3s, we can drive to the hoop and create, we can block some shots, we can dump it inside and play big. We’re not going to intimidate anyone, so maybe this year we can start the tournament as a middle of the pack seed and get a little momentum going and make a deep run. We have some experience in the tournament the past few years, so maybe the 3rd year is the charm. Go Illini!

The Brad never adjusts takes are one of the craziest things I see on this forum and social media at times.

Brad is one of the few coaches I’ve seen who is often willing to make significant adjustments. Just the northwestern game alone, we made personnel changes, adjustments on who facilitates the offense, eliminated post doubles, help defense on Buie, and even stopped doing spread. I do question our staff’s initial game plan at times but adjustments - not so much.

I’d love to hear other game adjustments from this year others can think of

Adjustments also have to be carried out by players in order to determine if they’re successful. Watching the guards in the NW game go under screens in the first half was maddening. I highly doubt that was the scouting report. Underwood made it clear in the post presser it wasn’t the expectation.

Yep , he made that crystal clear and also how the coaches told Dain about nu doubling on the baseline and he tried that anyway with 3 to's..........

For all the detractor's of BU's coaching ability , I say NUTS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well he certainly made good adjustments and I am sure coached them exactly like he said. No one is perfect and he also made a even more impactful adjust changing or scheme on both ends of the court after the first three B10 games. He did realize that likely was a mistake playing that way. I think we would have won some of those games if we didn’t play 5 out and switch everything. That’s one reason MM was frustrated, He did realize that was a mistake and listened to his players. BU is a very good coach and recruiter and it’s good to see him make adjustment. and have the players that can do so. He as do all coaches do make mistakes but last nights play in the first half was not one of em.

So I’ve been thinking all year long people have been complaining that we’re not a good 3 point shooting team and I’m clearly addicted to emotional pain so I went back and looked at how our last 4 tournament games went in the 3 point shooting department.

2021: Drexel 2/7 28.6%
2021: Loyola 4/14 28.6%
2022: Chattanooga 3/17 17.6%
2022: Houston 6/25 24%
Total: 15/63 23.8%

Woof.

Disclaimer: I think last year we shoot much better if Trent doesn’t have pink eye and Jake is healthy

I’m still a believer in this team making some noise in March.

Last year’s team by tournament time was decimated. 100 year storm as far as injuries (I hope)

I knew Feb would be a tough month, but I certainly didn’t think we would lose 4 of 7.
