our team this year is a pretty good example of not knowing what you have when you mix 1 junior, 3-4 transfers , 2 sophomores and 3 incoming freshmen

it might work great sometimes, other times not as much

Not bad for a rebuilding year.

If we make the tourney in a year where we basically lose all our production from the previous year, nice job. Get 20 wins and it’s even better. That’s how a reputation is made. Even in down years we stay above the cut line for the field.

And yes, this is a rebuilding year as much as BU would love to say it’s actually reloading.

Two big ten teams with winning records on the road! Take that into account when heading to Vegas come tourney time!

I can get behind this point of view. There’s much truth to it. (especially the part about building a rep in down years)

We’ve been spoiled by what Brad has been able to accomplish in years past. AND Maybe this team was overhyped…maybe not…but we have more
talent overall then we have had in Brad’s tenure here. So in that way it has been disappointing thusfar….That is also a valid
POV.

As to it being a rebuilding year. In the NIL era, every other year could very well be like that from here on out…

See: Ohio State. Two years ago everybody thought they were a contender because they "won" the transfer portal (and had EJ Liddell). Who "won" the transfer portal this year? North Carolina? Duke? My answer: Brandon Miller at Alabama. Talent matters and so does team chemistry...aka, "The more things change, the more they stay the same."

Miller is a transfer or a recruit ?..........guess I don't understand your point there..............not trying to disagree , just thought he was a HS recruit coming into college this year .....my bad if I'm off base , been a bad month for me .......

I'm confused... How did Brandon Miller win the transfer portal? He's a true freshman. Alabama did grab Sears and Burnett from the portal, which has helped their backcourt immensely.

My vote: Texas

Rice, Hunter, and Bishop this year... Carr, Allen, Disu the previous year. (Their 6 top scoring players)

Beard was winning the portal, but is now in it himself...

I was being ironic and understood that he isn't a transfer. My larger point, which I should have made clearer was that teams don't become championship-caliber through the transfer portal unless they have a core that already works.

To wit: we have two Baylor players who, on any given night, can be electric or make you pull your hair out. Baylor is doing fine without them. Ok...let me change my answer without giving up my addiction to irony: Baylor won the transfer portal!

The biggest problem for the team this year is that there is no one who is able to get easy buckets. In past years, we had Ayo and Kofi. In all the losses, the team goes through long scoring droughts.

Shannon has been good, but he's not a top level creator. It seems like good teams can shut him down. Mayer is too predictable in his offense. I'm looking for Dainja to step up his production next year and develop into a double digit scorer.
