Hard capped ceiling due to no point guard. Hopefully we get in the tournament but don’t expect much more.
Let's see what the guards look like before we start talking about ceilings. I have watched one Utah Valley game, haven't seen DGL play at all and haven't seen Ty's progression (shooting from the field, foul shooting, ball handling, etc) I'm guessing the same goes for you and most others. Let's see how it progresses before you cap anything.

I know I'm one of the few weird people that likes to watch the NIT and mid major basketball but Harmon is very good.

I didn't see Utah Valley play until the NIT but he looked absolutely phenomenal. He's a bigger Andres Feliz with a better jump shot if anyone wants a somewhat recent comparison. He didn't shoot super well against UAB but played well and was phenomenal against Cincinnati and Colorado. If the current roster stays put I almost expect Harmon to start but he will play major minutes.

Sidenote if Woodbury from Utah Valley can end up getting a waiver he would be a phenomenal add.

Additionally, I've been watching Domask play since he was a freshman and he will make an all big10 team this year. Just a solid all around player that can do everything and is a very good entry passer into the post.

I think Harmon, Shannon, Domask, Rodgers, Coleman should be the starting 5 with Goode and Guerrier as your top two off the bench.
Yes please

Well, DGL was one of the stars of that clip. And don't think he's lacking confidence. I'm really ready for this season.
I predict DGL will be a STAR THIS YEAR, and he will be a superstar before he leaves Illinois. He has that wonderful combination of moxie, grit and arrogance that all the great ones possess. I have no worries about the PG position as long as he's at Illinois.

I'm not going to go quite that far, but he does seem like he could be our next frazier. A guy who stays four years and gives us a really solid base to build around. Here's hoping for that.

Colgate and FAU? We are not messing around with our mid major matchups this year.
You got that right. Being an underdog vs FAU would have brought me back to some dark days. Now, it'll be one of the biggest wins of the season(if we actually won). I've seen Colgate two years in a row I'm the tournament (Milwaukee two years ago and Des Moines last year). That is most definitely not a gimme.

Very interesting scheduling this year. You have to schedule a team like Colgate since we replaced a big time tournament with a local MTE. I'd almost rather have a bigger tournament at a neutral site because the wins mean more. You obviously have to beat a team like Colgate at home but that win isn't going to be quad 1.

Our recent Tournament history makes your skepticism understandable, but the fact that we are currently predicted to be a 5 seed and are ranked in many preseason Top 25 lists suggests that we are much more than just going to "get in" to the Tournament in the eyes of the people who do this for a living.

My belief is that this is going to be the best defensive team that we have had in a very long time with a deep and experienced bench which should make all the difference in advancing in the Big Dance.

People also forget TSJ and Coleman are likely going to be better versions of themselves. TSJ doesn't have to adjust anymore to being the guy. For Coleman its his second year being a full time starter. Experience matters big time and is likely why we are a 5 seed right now in preseason brackets.
