Yes, but someone does. If Ty doesn't that means Shannon will have to which is okay but teams such as Michigan State could easily have multiple quick shorter guards which could pose a problem.
On the other hand, let's see how well they follow him down to the post and try to stop him there. Spread the court, one pass and he slides down low. Ty can be an even bigger issue for them going the other way.

With Ty and TSJr. as the guards, and help from a couple of wings with handles, there should be no issues in handling pressure. In fact, with a little attention, this Illini team can use press offense as a lethal weapon due to experience and teamwork. I look for 11 guys to get minutes every night and at least 9 being dependable. In tight games the plan may limit that to 8 but who knows which 8, beyond Shannon and Hawk will get the nod. To be on the floor at crunch time, a guy needs to hit 70%+ from the FT line. Otherwise, there are a myriad of chemistry problems to be solved which is a tough job for BU. Would be wonderful to see all 12 players play their hearts out for each other....but who knows. Let's hope that aspect is improved. Hansberry is the wild card if he can play without turnovers and hit FTs...he will get his chance as will DGL. And like everyone else, I can't wait to see these kids play.

I know we all want an extra inch, but come on! Guerrier and Hansberry are both listed at 6’8 and our program generally is pretty generous with listed heights.
Sorry, there was no intention on exaggerating heights of players. just an incorrect (obviously) statement.

Well that is one way of looking at it. Or, to get a triple-double you need to accomplish 3 things — 1. Score 10 points 2 Grab 10 rebounds. 3. Dish out 10 assists. If you get 10 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists you’ve accomplished 2 of the 3 things or 66.6% — not nearly in my book.

Again though, I thought the use of nearly by the writer was inaccurate but more so just really unneeded. Obviously you and others aren’t of the same opinion. No biggie. Forget I mentioned it.
Is 9 points 9 rebounds 9 assists nearly a triple double? Not nearly as good?

Ty guarding quick guards could be a problem.
Ty's defense would be the least of my worries....I think his length and athleticism will allow him to effectively guard his opponent...going up against quicker guards may cause Ty some problems handling the ball...especially a quick set of guards that like to pressure and double team the ball

As Charles Barkley would say. That's a triple single.

Don’t understand why some people keep saying DGL won’t get minutes
I think the general consensus outside of this board is he is the back up PG, will see AT LEAST 15 mins a game and if he's playing well in a game will play starter minutes

Well the people that post on this board that have direct contact with the staff were the ones saying he wouldn't play a role his freshman year so I'm guessing DGL has surprised even the staff.
It's not like the Program is going to tweet out when DGL is being lazy, or when he throws the ball out of bounds. All highlight videos look good. I do find it interesting they showed two clips of our "PG of the future" getting stripped by a guy who came in with a reputation of soft defense. It's always a story of good news/bad news when there are highlights from intra-team scrimmages.

Still, love to see DGL has it in him to play solid on ball defense if he wants to. He's plenty athletic enough, he just has to buy in and take coaching.

Ty guarding quick guards could be a problem.
That was mentioned when he was interviewed a couple of months ago. He said that his training had been altered after last season to help him drop weight, and give him a higher threshold for increased quickness. At that time he had dropped about 14 pounds, and was down to 203 I believe.
