Your last point about not being able to play Harris and Rodgers on the floor at the same time is correct but I'd extend that to Dain too.

I think Harris can get 10-15 minutes purely on defensive abilities. If Rodgers I playing upper 20s than you only would possibly have a few minutes of overlap though.

I have hard time seeing where Dain will get his minutes though. Coleman wil obviously be on the court a lot. They got Guerrier for a reason and has played over 20 minutes a game all 4 seasons. Plus you have to figure Hansberry will see a little bit of time.
Let's say Rodgers plays 23 mpg.
TSJ plays 30 mpg.

That leaves 27 mpg at the 1/2 slots.
Even if we restrict it to Harmon and DGL as primary backups there is no way there is 10-15 mpg available for Harris.
They are not likely going to limit Harmon and DGL to 17 mpg total to put Harris on the floor 10 mpg. They need true combo guys to slot in there.
The major backup minutes time will be for Rodgers, and Harris is not even close to a serviceable PG and we lose too much offense with him at the 2.

I see those 27 minutes of backup time going mostly to Harmon and DGL. Both can play with either Rodgers or TSJ.

Harris is a plus athlete but an enigma unless he makes a major leap.

I bought my stock a while ago and have been on pulling the wagon along. I think the dude is an elite athlete and is going to surprise the heck out of people this year.
I'm with you on this.I've been watching his OTE games from last season and am pretty impressed with him on the offensive side.If he can play any defense at all he's going to be hard to keep off the court.

Harris will play. There are also three guard lineups as a possibility with Rodgers on the court. . There's no way underwood is not going to play Harris with his defensive tenacity. He literally changed some games last year.

If he has improved on offense, he will potentially play a lot.

I think you answered your quandry-ness with the bold above..........I would rather make my own mind up instead of letting someone else tell me what will be this coming season.......We are all armchair QB1's but I think I have gained some traction in my 71 yrs on Earth and am a pretty good evaluator of talent when it comes to BB , FB and baseball........

Your assessment of our plethora of different skill set's regarding our guards lead's me to agree with your stance on our guards.....We have a roster of individuals bringing their own unique talents to the squad........it is BU and staff's responsibility along with the players to achieve a much higher chemistry than last season.......

I have faith that Ty OR one OR all of the other guards will handle the PG duties and if it takes all of them to do it , then so be it........We have a much more balanced team with the new transfers and each one of them bring something different from last season......

Now is the time for unbridled hope that we will be a success and make it to the vaunted second weekend.......But why stop there ????

I can dream big time dreams............I really really can.........................Can you , Illini Nation ??
Pru, love ya man, but you do know you only need one ‘.’ to end a sentence, right?

His time will go down. He will be behind Ty, DGL, and Harmon at the one. TSJ who will likely will play close to 33 or even more minutes in B10 games will own the 2 spot and also Harmon and Domask who can shoot it will play those extra few minutes at the 2. TSJ will play almost exclusively the 2 since we now have a healthy Goode, Domask and Quincy who will eat up time at the 3 unlike last season. The line up is much different now. If Harris is to play more then whos gonna sit at the one and so few left at the 2? They all can't play.

I get what your saying but you can mix and match lineups a bunch. Shannon can slide to the 3 and Rodgers can play the 1-4. So you could realistically have all of DGL, Harmon, Shannon, and Rodgers on the floor at the same time.

I think the core rotation will be Shannon, Hawkins, Domask, Goode, Rodgers, Harmon, and Guerrier as the top 7. They will play most of the minutes.

Then you will see some mix of DGL, Harris, Dainja, and Hansberry. Probably with Dainja playing the most of that group and DGL with a chance to earn more playing time.

One of the biggest issues of last years team was perimeter shooting. The position we added most of our shooting along with getting healthy is the 3. It makes sense that to get those shooters on the floor that TSJ will not slide to the 3 much and Goode, Domask, and Quincy will fill those minutes at the 3 with a skill we missed last season. Thats what Goode does and it is why our transfers were brought in.

Last year we all said that Harris would see the same minutes as lieb. He played a lot more.

We’re not going to go 11 deep, but there will be injuries and some guys won’t perform. The lineup will work itself out.

My only point is that Harris has a spot on this team and will see the court. Who do you want in the game with a 10 point lead and three minutes left?

Excellent ball handlers who can make free throws.

Who said that? I never expected Lieb ever to play much at all. Harris plays hard and well but the main reason he played was we lacked depth, experience, and Skyy left. Also, we lacked shooters. BU addressed at least those aspects we lacked. Its easy to say Harris will play more minutes but barring injury then who will sit at PG? TSJ will get 80% or more of the time available at the 2 so we have Goode and the transfers BU brought in to space the floor for Shannon to do his thing. Thats why BU brought them here. Those guys are going to play most minutes at the three so we have shooters on the floor. If you think at least one of Goode, Domask, or Quincy will be in the floor nearly all the time at the 3 and maybe the 4 too to provide shooting I don't know what to tell ya. If you feel Harris is ahead of Ty. DGL or Harmon at the one I disagree. I don't see Ty or Harris end down the stretch at PG either. I really hope DGL pops. We need a reliable shooting threat from the field and the FT line in closing minutes of games.
