No I'm sure you're correct..this year is going to be a lot like last year .
Well, we shall see shortly. But, this team looks significantly different than last year. Theoretically, we should be a much better shooting team. Free throw shooting MUST be better this year. As it has been previously said (ad nauseum), actually running offensive sets and getting penetration into the lane rather than chucking contested 3's is what I hope to see. Another major difference as compared to last year is the culture and leadership. Seems thus far to be monumentally better. Call me hopeful and cautiously optimistic!

I remember Hunter Dickenson being incredibly offensive from day one. :)

How can you make an assessment on culture and leadership right now?

I don't think it will be a bad sign. I fully expect teams to figure out Ty and for us to have a game plan ready for that adjustment. Whether we can make the next adjustment is what worries me.

We always make the first one and then the tournament comes and everyone knows who we are and we aren't ready.

My ultimate hope is that DGL takes away the 1 from Ty and he slots at the 3/4 with some time at the 1. That's where he is best for our team. Ty at the 1 is like a running back in the wildcat. Yes, it has it's advantages, but it doesn't take long for a team to flip that into a disadvantage for us.

Ty is a talented distributor for a 4, but he's not a 1. That's not a knock on him, but he lacks the shooting and handling to make guys guard him honestly.
Like the wildcat analogy.

Wildcat rarely passes
Ty at the 1 not a threat from 3

Doesn’t mean Ty at PG can’t work but how will the other team respond / defend.

He didn’t have a great trip … No denying that …

But Brad has said he’s been our best guard defender in practice … Buck just fouls … A lot … I think that might be why Brad made that comment …
What we saw last year from Harris was great in the press/scramble but in the half court he was regularly beat or lost his man. (Could also include made fouls).

I really want to believe that we're this good right now. I also really want to believe that Ty Rodgers can be a PG. But, going into this season without a bonafide PG and after the hype last preseason, this feels like we're being set up for failure. I honestly would have preferred to go into this season outside the rankings in any poll.
Well, I still think that's going to happen. We'll see what happens when the coaches/AP polls come out. Until people see that we have a functioning PG...there will be doubts and rightfully so. We all have the same questions. We'll see where we are in a month.

Yeah losing Epps is gonna sting. Oh well, at least we know how to find the talent. Keeping it is another matter...
