First two priorities in the portal will be replacing Coleman and TJ/Finding your next Domask.
Next Domask = Goode. Seeing him taking it to basket, rebounding and playing pretty good defense. Won’t match booty ball but may match scoring.
Are there any reports of Buck’s progression? Think he can do some scoring on fast breaks. Seems as fast as TJ, just not as physical. However need him to be somewhat of a three point threat.

Goode is not the next Domask. They will get a replacement for all 3 of those guys in the portal and then build around the young guys

There isn't anyone as fast as TJ....the kid is faster with the ball in his hands than most people are without.

Those are mutually exclusive and neither the staff nor the fans should have any delusion about that.

But this is the last offseason in which Covid-driven 4-year college starters are available for the right price in the portal, and BU seems extremely pleased with what he's been able to accomplish through targeting the most consistent, functional grizzled pros he can assemble among that group.

His blood pressure is at record lows this year. Good for him and good for us.

I watched last night's OSU game pretty closely, and I centered my attention on Goode when he was in the game.

He won't be replacing Domask.

I'm quite certain his best offensive game is what we're seeing right now. He's limited. And as for defense, the Buckeyes went pretty hard right at him and took it repeatedly to the hoop.......successfully.

Ten games down. Ten to go. 7-3 at the midway point. Lots of tough road games lie ahead, plus Purdue at home.

** 9-1 in the second half (16-4 overall) should earn us a share of the Big10 title, as long as we beat both Wisky and the Boilers. #2 seed in the Big Dance.
** 6-4 in the second half (13-7) should still get us a double-bye in the BTT. #5 seed in the Big Dance.

Sounds pretty reasonable to me. Put another way, every loss from here on out is roughly one seed line drop from a 1-seed (with about one seed line of uncertainty).

Now that this awesome website has made all college hoops ratings available, I thought it would be fun to revisit which Big Ten teams have drawn the best so far. Below is average viewers overall for each Big Ten team. Keep in mind there were some early season Big Ten games that REALLY drag everyone's average down, and I am frankly too lazy to go in and cherry pick them out for "better data," haha. As a funny example, only 38k watched Maryland play UMBC on BTN, and 19k watched St. Francis (PA) at Penn State, lol. On the flip side, one massive result (e.g., MSU/Arizona drawing 5.2 million on FOX) can REALLY push things up.

OVERALL
Michigan State: 731k
Purdue: 590k
Illinois: 443k
Ohio State: 425k
Indiana: 387k
Wisconsin: 322k
Michigan: 342k
Iowa: 294k
Nebraska: 249k
Maryland: 231k
Rutgers: 184k
Northwestern: 174k
Minnesota: 172k
Penn State: 150k

TOP TEN MOST VIEWED GAMES
5.18 million for #21 Michigan State vs. #3 Arizona (FOX)
1.59 million for #2 Purdue vs. #4 Marquette (ESPN)
1.51 million for #18 Michigan State vs. #4 Duke (ESPN)
1.46 million for #20 Illinois at #17 Tennessee (CBS)
1.45 million for #2 Kansas at Indiana (CBS)
1.39 million for #2 Purdue vs. #7 Tennessee (ESPN)
1.23 million for Michigan State at Maryland (CBS)
1.21 million for Ohio State vs. UCLA (CBS)
1.06 million for #4 Purdue vs. Alabama (FOX)
988k for Ohio State at Michigan (FOX)

ILLINI TOP AND BOTTOM FIVE
1.46 million for #20 Illinois at #17 Tennessee (CBS)
904k for #9 Illinois at #1 Purdue (FS1)
768k for #20 Illinois vs. #11 FAU (ESPN)
571k for #14 Illinois at Michigan
571k for Michigan State at #10 Illinois
...
212k for Rutgers at #14 Illinois (BTN)
163k for FDU at #11 Illinois (BTN)
137k for Western Illinois at Illinois (BTN)
111k for Southern at #23 Illinois (BTN)
85k for Colgate at #16 Illinois (BTN ... RIGHT during a Bears game, too)

Anyway, just for fun. I am also quite positive Illini/Indiana on FOX last weekend will have a very good rating, but that information is not out quite yet.
Quick follow-up on this for Big Ten weekend games:

1.05 million for #2 Purdue at Rutgers (FOX)
972k for Indiana at #10 Illinois (FOX)
399k for Iowa at Michigan (FS1)
208k for Nebraska at Maryland (BTN)
187k for Ohio State at Northwestern (BTN)
126k for Minnesota at Penn State (BTN)

Indiana fans must have completely checked out already, because less than 1 million on FOX is actually a surprisingly low rating for our game. We drew almost that many playing Purdue on a Friday on FS1.

I know the schedules are not entirely balanced, but with TSJ back and HOPEFULLY turning the corner once again after putting OSU away on the road, I look at it like this:

- Anything worse than 7-3 in the second half is a real disappointment. Our 7-3 start included an absolute dud at home vs. a bad Maryland team, a heartbreaker in OT in Evanston and a respectable-but-expected loss at #1 Purdue. So, during that stretch, 8-2 should have been the expectation. To do even worse than 7-3 down the stretch, even with tougher games, would be kind of deflating.

- 7-3, given the schedule is slightly tougher, would be "par for the course" but still somewhat of a bummer, JMO. The three losses very likely include Wisconsin and Purdue, and we need at least one of those huge wins.

- Anything better than 7-3 shows that we have truly got on a hot streak, we have won all of the games we were supposed to AND picked up some nice wins (winning one of at MSU, at Wisconsin and vs. Purdue is a great accomplishment for the resume).

Even though it is a lofty goal, I think 8-2 is where we need to shoot for!!

Might. Doubt it gets accepted though.
It's the same problem as with Tommy DeVito, the year that was cut short by injury was a "free" year that isn't counting against his eligibility anyway.

2020-21 doesn't count, and this is Domask's fourth full season that counts.

(I'm applying logic to NCAA decision making, a fool's errand, but so it goes)

Best part of our second half schedule is we end it with our toughest games…

Each win gets us closer to a grand finale round robin with Wisconsin & Purdue

7-0 & we should be playing for a B1G title to end the season (unless Wisconsin also goes 7-0 this month, then we need to win both & hope Wisconsin loses to Purdue in March)

We literally control our own destiny.

7-0. Then it’s big ten title week.

Do I expect it? No. Is it possible? Hell yes.

lol, Goode and Domask aren’t remotely similar players. The only reason the two would ever be compared is they’re both white.

Luke is never going to have the ball in his hands like Domask. Brad told a room full of reporters the other day that Luke’s dribble-drive game is “only slightly better” than theirs. He’s a spot-up shooter.

Sencire is fast. His problem is converting the layup at the end of the drive. Also hitting free throws (20% last year).

Sencire should go to the Ty Rodgers school of free throw shooting. Amazing improvement from 40% last year to 65% this year. Form is good. Just needs to keep practicing it more.

Ayo was incredible in putting his layups high on glass to avoid the block. I wonder if Ayo could come back to C-U during the summer and teach it to Sencire/ DGL/ Nico etc.
