Didn't recruit him because he made it very clear he did not want to play at Illinois he wanted to grow up and get away from Dad. Wanted to be close to home but not be where he had grown up. At the time I got it, did the same thing moved away after high school thanks to USAF
Lou thought he wasn't good enough to play in the Big Ten. Also thought it would create an uncomfortable situation on the team. Unfortunately, it ranks just ahead of the Bill Cole/Robbie Hummel snafu in Illini recruiting annals.

Like PattyO, I was concerned about how TSJ gets the blocking calls, as opposed to a charge. One thing is that the new rule says that the D player has to be set before the O player plants his foot for takeoff (if I understand it correctly.) So, with TJ's speed, that's hard. But also, when I go back and slomo the plays I question, it seems that nearly every time that there are 2 defenders, he is great at splitting the seam between them, making neither in the correct D position. I hope he gets the calls in the Tourney - we all remember the farce refs against Augie.

TSJ is basically a cheat code. He’s so explosive and with his euro step it’s basically impossible to get square up in front of him.
He very rarely blows into a defender directly. He has such great body control that he finds a seam. Don’t think they call a foul on this but frequently the defender is hacking at his arms which does get called. I have much less problem with this than booty ball by bigs backing into defenders with their butt until they are in position. Also dislike three point shooters jumping into their defenders for defensive fouls. Don’t think any contact initiated by the offensive player should be a foul. Not the rules but what I would like them to be.

Yep, the only one recently that has been super close was the block call on Bruce Thornton late in the OSU game. That one could have been called a charge and likely would have in a tourney game.
