No disrespect meant. Just making a joke and playing off an old movie. I don't find it disrespectful when it's done in a nickname/joking manner. I do find it disrespectful when guys simply can't figure out how to spell Sencire or Mayer.
Hmm, good point. I happen to be someone that has a last name that constantly gets butchered, and it's never bothered me in the least, but it's worth remembering that I can't assume everyone else cares as little as I do...

Though I’m disappointed Illinois isn’t playing in LA this year with the B1G expansion, I’d still love to help organize a west coast Illini group for future games/roadtrips and Illini watch parties.
There’s also the upcoming invitationals at the awesome new Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert. While we aren’t in them this year, other B1G teams will be. I am so excited to see high level college ball here in the Coachella Valley and will wear my Illini gear with pride.

Check out LA Beaches Illini Alumni Club on Facebook. I’ve joined these folks for Illini games in the past, but they often meet in the Hermosa Beach area, which is a bit of a haul for me from LA proper. But it’s a good group.Just checking to see if there’s any other Loyalty folks in SoCal…?

And yes, I cursed up a storm when I learned there were no Illini games at USC or UCLA in either football or basketball this year.

I hear ya. OK, you apparently like music, wine, basketball, Illinois, and french fries (?). Illinois is the top producing state for pumpkins. Still working on the tiger. Do tigers like pumpkins? I know they like pepper.

I am in south Orange County but would love to attend game at Rose Bowl, Coliseum, Pauley Pavillion etc. I was hoping Illini would be sent to LA NCAA regional for basketball but it is has not happened yet (been waiting 11 years).And yes, I cursed up a storm when I learned there were no Illini games at USC or UCLA in either football or basketball this year.

That is what I was thinking. How such a simple clip could just SHOUT at us and say "WHO WAS THAT?". I just saw crazy athleticism and got excited for the season. My fellow Illini, this is going to be a fun season. Talent is two deep 4* or better deep...as in our starts and our bench can start for almost any other Power basketball conference. That is insane. I can't wait to see what Brad does with this team. That might be the most exciting part. I suspect most of our games will be blowouts where the second team will get lots of minutes just from the scores.

Last year's team proved to have as much depth as any Illini team. That next year's roster surpasses that depth of talent is something with which I would tend to agree. However, since I moved from the Sucker State to the Show Me state decades ago...ya gotta show me their second five could finish in the top half of the B1G. And since that will never happen, it is moot.
But I would agree with anyone who thinks the next two seasons should be a couple of the most interesting....as well as potentially the most glorious....in Illini hoops history. My fondest hope is to live to see both and enjoy every minute.
