To be fair to Kasparis, he had a slightly lower turnover rate than freshman 6th man of year Curbelo.

And until the very end of the season when Riley emerged, Kasparis was incredibly ball dominant and created most of the opportunities for the offense. He was also constantly getting blitzed because Kylan was an abysmal shooter for most of the season.

What other spot up shooters have we had who sported a .8 TO per 40? Luke goode was close in recent years at .9.

Jake davis played the exact same role on O and averaged over 1 TO/40 (and thats still really good IMHO)

I mean Goode had a better turnover rate this year at Indiana.

I don't want to pile on Ben and I think he can legitimately play a role on this years team but this low turnover rate praise reminds me of when people used to call Jeffrey Jordan a defensive specialist because he was abysmal at everything else but they wanted to find something good to say about him(Jeffrey Jordan was not that good defensively).

I think Ben can settle in during year 2 but let's be honest about what he provides. Ben needs to be able shoot. If he's not knocking down shots he doesn't do anything else well enough to provide value at the Big10 level. That is also true of Jake Davis and was true of Luke Goode as well(Goode shot 39% for his career and his worst season was 37% as a freshman).

I agree with you, except I think you're underrating a bit re Davis. He's got some range to his game. If Mirkovic shows Underwood enough during practice, he could well be the starting 4. I don't expect BU to start the season with big Z starting alongside of Tomi. I think we'll see a mix and match with the twins throughout the season.

last paragraph nails it perfectly. make shots and the rest gets forgotten to an extent. even Luke Goode had to be taken out at the end of games when he was making shots never defenses will hunt him like they did with Ben

This is not a fair comparison at all. For starters, Ben was not abysmal. Was he the super accurate sharpshooter we were promised? No, but he still shot 33% from three which was par for the course for the entire team and translates to shooting 50% from two. Of course, that’s not ideal if you’re essentially a one dimensional player, which for the most part of the season Ben was. But his defense and rebounding improved significantly near the end of the season. Hopefully another year with Fletch will add to that even more.

Second… no matter how people want to diminish it, 17 total turnovers for the entire season is award worthy… no matter what position and/or role you play. It’s not like he’s always shooting the ball when it’s passed to him. He’s passing, cutting and moving at full speed along with everyone else.

I was looking at FGCU as the okay game. I was expecting them to be in the 125-150 range. I expect scores of 100+ against some of these which may work against the development of the defense. Why defend when you can score like that? Maybe it would work to introduce a team reward if the opponents are held to less than 60. It might be tricky to find one that works that doesn't just say "slow the game down."

If you saw Raphael Davis' prediction for Purdue this year it would make more sense.

If you haven't...

He predicted per game averages that would add up to Purdue scoring a cool 97 PPG. He then stood fast in his position and doubled down against the F068 guys for questioning that PPG spread.

It was just short of a Larry David bit from Curb Your Enthusiasm.
