Here’s what I’ll also say—and @Indy Illini Fan or @LvilleILL can correct me if I’m wrong—but I’ve been told by my source that Tyler and Hammer are the ones essentially running the program right now. Personally, I’m not thrilled about that, but that’s what I was told.

I was also told that Hammer said Keaton is a one-and-done player and could be one of, if not the best, players. Now, I don’t necessarily believe that—not because I doubt my source, but because I don’t trust Hammer’s ability to evaluate talent. He’s out here offering a bunch of 3-star guys, when, with our NIL support and program prestige, we should be targeting 4- and 5-star players.

One thought I have on the Big Ten schedule as a whole: I wish that last Sunday March 8th had more than four games. Ideally I would have all 18 teams play, although I understand that's not easy to do because of the TV networks. As it stands right now its kind of boring. The only other game that will mean anything (most likely) besides Illinois' is MSU @ Michigan. I want to be flipping between games trying to keep track of all the different seeding scenarios, but everything will pretty much already be settled by then.

LOL. I personally wouldn't boo him, but did you see the reception Skyy Clark got last year? Morez will be under attack by the Orange Crush from start to finish. If he (or his father) had handled things differently it could have been a better situation since he was such a fan favoritethe last year. That said, the way he left coupled with where he went have created a bitterness Illini fans have rarely felt...
I'll be booing him from my couch 4 states away

I generally agree with you; I wouldn't boo him either. I try not to boo or disparage college athletes. I realize they're getting paid now and that's an argument that can be had, but they're still just kids. I wish him well and hope that things work out for him. Now, if the Orange Krush go after him, well, that's what student sections are for. That's fair game!

It's a cool idea but it would be difficult to find 6 team combinations that would make every team happy. Like in the theoretical Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, IU, Purdue pod, Michigan would want MSU and maybe OSU in the pod and Northwestern would want to be in our pod.

Geographically based pods could make sense though we lose a couple rivals.

East
- Rutgers
- Maryland
- PSU
- OSU
- Michigan
- MSU

Central
- Indiana
- Purdue
- Illinois
- Northwestern
- Wisconsin
- Minnesota

West
- Iowa
- Nebraska
- Washington
- Oregon
- USC
- UCLA

I do like those groupings, but I think we need to expand and add 2 more then stop. Tourney's just bracket easier with 2 or 4 divisions. NFL had to go to 4 divisions.

I would like to see the Old Big 10 and the New Big 10- back to the good ol' days rivalries. As a Boomer, it'd be fun to have a team to root for when Minnesota plays Maryland

Don’t love Penn st anywhere other than their home court.
That will that be on a Saturday at the Palestra when the students are not in session in State College. That's a great venue and an easy day trip from Chicago. I can see a strong Illini contingent.

Why does this announcement concern me more than hearing nothing? Just Illini paranoia?
A few weeks is a long time to be out, and it means it could be more than just a minor injury.
And if that's the case, those kinds of injuries can linger well into the regular season and reinjury/reaggravation is certainly at a higher risk.

Couple that with the ambiguity of "a few weeks" and you are more than justified in this concerning you. I mean you could consider Rodgers to be out "a few weeks".

"in a few weeks" is vague enough to get paranoid about (an expected) star player. That said, no reason to worry about things you don't control and is just nervous energy at this point.

Edit, beat by a few seconds and now my post is redundant :/

He's out for the season, per reports. So, I suppose, yes... if you consider 52 = "a few"

Why does this announcement concern me more than hearing nothing?

Because its a requirement to be a member here 😁

I love how everyone is jumping on the “few weeks” rather than the “fully cleared” part. We are so Illinois about this stuff.
