This is a little confusing. It's a tweet citing another tweet citing a Field of 68 (On3) article that is a paid article. Carson Bounds just says, KW is going to get more PG playing time. We already knew that. I think it was generally accepted that MP would probably not start the first couple/few games. Bounds cites Robby Nardini, who says he (MP) will miss the season opener. Does he mean MP won't play at all? I guess it sounds like it. But then the Nardini tweet cites the Field of 68 article, the title of which is, "Illinois' Underwood Updates Health of Petrovic” by Jeff Goodman. So, does that article say that? I don't know the ethics of this, but if someone had a subscription, would it be wrong to give a quick summation?

Edit: Well, I just answered my own question. An AI search for "Illinois' Underwood Updates Health of Petrovic” came up with this.

"Mihailo Petrovic, the Illinois guard, will miss the season opener due to a hamstring injury and is currently out indefinitely. He was recently cleared by the NCAA but has been struggling with this injury.” AI cited the Field of 68” article

So, how long does it take to get over a hamstring injury?

Just checked out our schedule because I have YouTube TV. ESPN only has 1 of our games (Tennessee). Bye-bye ESPN!

Hamstrings can be difficult-Petro re tweaked something in his hamstring against Florida. It's not super serious, and the hope is he's back for Texas Tech.
No medical knowledge but thought hamstrings could be a persistent problem similar to backs. Makes the depth chart not so deep.
We had 13 games missed entirely by the rotation last year and many more when players were less than 100%. We are going to need the frosh guards to be good.

I have to admit, the "model" pictures on your Etsy post are the fakest of fake :ROFLMAO:. Is it possible to get this one with the image blown up?

I can't imagine having a Head Coach who has been investigated for recruiting violations...

Tomi is playing, Petrovic is not.

Andrej will debut Friday at worst, but I think there's a pretty good chance he goes Monday-they have been playing it safe with him, but he will debut this coming week.
I don't know how Tomi can have any more health issues after last year - we need to be healthier this year. Concerned about the chemistry right now with the injuries to new faces....

Tomi literally had a tonsilectomy to avoid health issues this year.

Take a step back, chief, and see it for what this is, an opening buy game where the team is playing it safe with injuries, so that everyone is healthy when the top 10 team comes into town next week.

Great timing

I’d assume if petro is good to go with Tech his minutes would be pretty limited due to all the missed time? Feels like a tough spot to get thrown in for anything significant on a whole new team.

that's all well and good, but Brad still doesn't have a clue

Hamstrings are always serious because they can linger for a week or three months. No, he didn't tear anything, so it's not serious from a structural perspective. Pulled groins and pulled hamstrings are bad, bad business.

You are correct and you beat me to it. Just because it's not a torn knee ligament doesn't mean it's not a real problem. When I hear things like he "tweaked" it, it means he out of practice for a few weeks, then they'll reevaluate it. The issue can linger all season with continuous "tweaks".

Eh, you were right the first time. Good coach but not sure who you'd kick off that list.

And I still have recurring nightmares about the time half this board was advocating we dump Underwood and hire Miller or (pukes in mouth) Chris Beard. Let's not do this again:

As much as I respect what Underwood has done and see him as a great ambassador for our program, those other two have proven to be on a totally different level "in game coaching" wise with better results at lesser programs. Anybody advocating for them weren't necessarily wrong, its not like Underwood has taken us to our ultimate goal yet, time will tell. Although I wouldn't want Sean Miller's slimy hands anywhere near our program, Chris Beard is as good as it gets.

Chris Beard is as good as it gets.

So here's what Chris Beard has done (take this with what we also know about him, personally):

3 of the 5 years at Tech were 18 win seasons and didn't even make tournament, then went to Texas and won same amount of games everyone wanted to fire Brad over last year, then beat up his wife and got fired the next year, went to Ole Miss and barely won 20 games (missing the tournament yet again) and last year wasn't anything to write home about either.

That's gonna be a no for me, dawg.

You're conveniently leaving out the fact that he is 16-7 in the tourney with trips to the elite eight, a championship game, and a sweet 16 last year in his second season at Ole miss of all schools. Hes done this all in 9 seasons as a head coach. Brad Underwood has had 12 seasons to win half as many games with an 8-9 record and only 1 second weekend appearance which was an elite 8, and oh yea had to vacate all his wins in 2 of his 3 years at Stephen Austin.

As well as the fact that the allegations against Chris Beard were dropped and apparently he was acting in self defense. So im not willing to hold that against him as a testament to poor character. Completely irrelevant to me.

Just saying, the original poster implied that Underwood has proven to be better, and I dont think thats at all the case yet considering we are searching for our first national championship and his biggest criticism is not getting the job done in March where Chris Beard has been massively better.
