Agreed. TBH, I am really bummed that the Krush used up its (presumably-only-one) road trip on OSU, and I was hoping they would make it to Iowa. Other than Northwestern, Iowa is the opposing arena where we routinely have the most fans, and yet it is a difficult place to play when Iowa is good. Plus, that game is on a weekend, so I was optimistic the Krush would make it there after being denied a couple years ago! OSU might be the single least intimidating arena in the conference, when you adjust for the usual quality of the team.
Iowa has gotten wise to Krush’s covert tactics and has made ticket purchasing much more difficult.

Paging big T...this team becomes a juggernaut when he finds consistency...and mercy, grab some rebounds big fella!

Since one of the things BU said in offseason was that Keaton was as far along as KJ/Will, thought i would be fun to do a comparison through 10 games

KEaton:
14.7 Pts
5.2 Rebounds
2.6 assists
1.2 TOs
44% fg
37% 3pfg

KJ
16.1 pts
6.1 rebounds
5.6 assts
4 TOs
47% FG
42% 3pFG

Will:
13.5 pts
4.2 rebounds
1.5 assists
0.7 TOs
43% FG
38% 3FG

In terms of schedule (kenpom):

Keatons year: 7, 13, 18, 19,35,164, 168,178,233, 316.........avg 115
KJ/Will: 5, 6, 12, 36, 44,174,225, 316, 317, 358.......avg 149

Seems he is holding up relatively well to that statement overall (at least in range)

nice comparison

forgot how good KJ was early on.

I'll mention as a HUGE Ian Jackson advocate at the time he entered the portal, we probably dodged a bullet there. For one, Wagler is infinitely better already, and Jackson is decidedly mediocre, especially for how much NIL money he's getting from St. John's. Same goes for Josh Dix at Creighton.
I never understood the idea of paying big money for Josh Dix. He seems like a great 3rd or 4th best option, but you can't pay him like a top 2 guy

same - Said at the time - that was good loss. But I also said Storr would be a good addition. Right 50/50

Illinois with 4 players mocked on Bleacher Report's updated 2026 mock draft

29. Keaton Wagler
50. Andrej Stojakovic
54. Kylan Boswell
58. Tomislav Ivisic

This update was released yesterday (prior to our game)

EDIT: Did not see Sleepers covered this:

So I got to listening to this one and they're claiming Tomi has said "over and over" that he won't be back at Illinois after this season. I don't really recall him saying it once, let alone "over and over"... did I miss something or are these guys making stuff up?

They love saying controversial things to drive traffic to their channel. It got old for me, and I quit watching them a while back.

Thanks, yeah I didn't trust it either but it was said so adamantly it made me wonder if he alluded to it perhaps and they were just blowing some comment out of proportion, etc

Maybe memory but my impression was Riley taking time to adjust and kept improving. KJ started strong and faded due to injuries and maybe opposing scouting reports. Injuries and sickness really hurt last year but our memories are short. Hopefully that affected us early this year but not lasting into the season.

I think by the season Illinois has 2 first round picks and 2 second round picks:

1st Round Picks:

Keaton will go top 15 (lottery)
Andrej will go second to final pick in the first round

2nd Round Picks:

Tomi top 15
Kylan top 25

I think Keaton is first round, but Lottery unlikely.

Andrej needs to dramatically improve his outside shooting to go in 1st Round.

He started off pretty good and by about game 8-10 he was really starting to struggle........id say by about game 20 and on he was great

I would be shocked if Boswell gets picked at all. No chance Andrej goes in the first round at his size and mediocre outside shooting. He's a great college player for sure, but he's not a first-round pick. Tomi might go late second, but I'm starting to wonder about that. I think there's a decent chance Illinois gets back most of these players next season except Bos, Hummer, Wagler, and Petrovic.

Keaton has a very high FTA at 5.8 for a medium usage guy, higher than KJ and Riley. For example, Kylan's FTA is at 5.4. Honestly, if he keeps playing like this, I would increase his utility rate.

He's absolutely never stated that publicly, in any regard (unless to them behind the scenes; unlikely).

I get all that, I just wouldn't do it because I feel there is more value in setting the tone early

Z is a great backup center, but Tomi is a couple levels above him as a player

Definitely understand your POV on this, totally valid (y)
Aren’t they twins? Can’t Z handle the jump ball, and next time down the court he runs in front of the bench and covertly slides out while T slides in? Like hockey, but if they do it shrewdly no one would know.

Obviously, Bam is not coming back. I hope Petrovic is back and the back court veteran.

How dare anyone MOCK our players.

Not to look too far ahead here, but noticed Missouri’s Jayden Stone is out for the next 3 weeks or so with a hand injury. He was their 2nd leading scorer prior to the injury. Will be pivotal for them whether or not they can get him back by the 22nd.

It's Mizzou - throw records out the window. But that is an incredibly winnable game for anyone who has watched Mizzou...
