UConn will be playing Duke on a neutral court in Vegas a week before our game. That should settle the best team debate. My guess is they start the season ranked 2 and 4.
This may be ringing hollow, but by us beating both, by how much may decide their rank!

Field of 68 bros definitely watch a ton of college hoops. It was Dauster talking about lack of PG play. They definitely like to stir the pot. I do think the ballhandling concerns are legitimate. PC was almost 300th in turnover rate last year. Was a nice balance this past year.
Vaaks’s turnover rate was only 14.3%, so I don’t think your reasoning is accurate.

Wagler was 12.5% which is elite for a primary handler. But Vaaks wasn’t that much worse.

Bad turnover rate is Kasparas, 25.4%.

The thing about the 2025 team is we were actually good at taking care of the ball OUTSIDE OF Kasparas:

Which is why our overall turnover rate wasn’t as bad as some previous seasons.

Given that we lost, then obviously we'd like a crack at an alternate universe where we face Duke. But I'm not convinced a large number of alternate universes where we face Duke would look better than a large number of alternate universes where we face UConn.
Coaching, that is it. Hurley is ten times the coach.

Vaaks and Keaton are both good.

KJ's rate was a catastrophe. I don't think that's a reasonable benchmark for discussing any of our future guards.

Did we learn nothing from what just happened last season?

Williams isn't some scrub player. He was one of the best players in Illinois, was a top 100 recruit for most of high school, and really only dropped because of non basketball stuff.
Feel like he will bring a Trent Frazier type energy on defense and is crazy athletic. He will get a ton of playing time because his ability to defend and make winning plays.

People are way too focused on who is going to play point or what qualifies as a PG now haha People stuck in the early 2000's.

He was so poor not exactly from a performance standpoint, but in terms of the VOLITILITY in his game. I hope our lead guard is never like that again.
I would take a first round draft choice at that position any time. your post is one of the worst I have seen on this site.

We shall see - the voodoo dolls in Storrs make them practically immune to losing games out of the Big Least. Last year, despite being down Reed and Mullins early season in stretches, they still figured out how to win most of those games and almost pulled off beating Arizona with no Mullins or Reed. They got the sauce. So even though Duke has the roster, they don't have the coach (or sauce).

Duke had a better record, was ranked higher, seeded higher and also had to play a stretch late in the season without multiple rotation players. And it required bone headed play of the century plus a low percentage deep 3 for UConn to beat them in 100% lockbox fashion.

The “sauce” is a made up thing that doesn’t exist.

There is no parallel universe where playing Duke was preferable.

Honestly, I'd be thrilled if we went 2-1 in the Duke, UCONN, Michigan trio. I guess, I'd prioritize Michigan because conference play. But with Boynton, I think I'd value the MSU win more.

Between Tech, UCONN, UNC, and Duke the over/under is 2.5 i think.

I don't understand why people have such weird opinions about which team they'd rather play.

if you go back to the VCU-North Carolina conversation, tens of posts were wishing to face UNC, despite VCU clearly being the worse team.

Duke's KPom rating was above 40 at one point. UConn was barely squeezing by bottom feeders in the Big East and got hammered by St John's.

In no universe, was UConn a better team than Duke.

I keep thinking he reminds me of Luther Head.

Duke was the #1 overall seed. They beat Michigan head to head.

In almost every measurable category, Duke was a better team than UCONN.
Other than their head to head......

Not sure what the record is exactly, but UConn has some ungodly record out of conference the last 4 years, including 18-2 in the NCAA tournament. Their preseason OOC slate is ridiculously good too. I'm sure Duke will be favored in that matchup. I thought I heard Hurley say it was something like 56-4 over the last 4 years, including the tourney. I remember them losing to Kansas a Phog a couple years ago with no Castle, then the AZ loss last year with no Reed or Mullins.
