For the sake of this discussion:

Whenever I’m watching a tournament game — with our team on the other side of the bracket awaiting the winner — I ALWAYS want the worser team to win so we have the best possible chance of winning our game. (Perhaps you don’t see it that way and want the hardest possible path??)

So, I’m struggling to see how Duke was a worser team than UCONN last year (and therefore why Duke winning would’ve presented the easier path).

Every fact, data, statistic suggests Duke was the significantly better team.

For your oblivious argument, yes?

For Hurley's resume, no?

1. we were saying the Duke final play had more to do with luck than Scheyer's awful coaching or Hurley's divine, godly coaching

2. you were claiming the opposite, and said Hurley's made a routine of "pulling off these wins in the tourney."

3. I'm saying he hasn't, because on his decorated tournament resume, he hasn't won a single game in the manner we're talking about (outside of the Duke game itself).

There's probably only been 3 or 4 games in the history of basketball that have been decided on that kind of sequence. It takes an immense amount of luck for a coach to fall into one of them (let alone multiple).

I still hold a slight belief he and UConn in general made a deal with the devil in the early 2000s. There’s dark magic somewhere in that program I’m convinced.

But yeah Hurley can coach, as painful as it is to admit
