Illini Basketball 2026-2027

Sounds we're, but we're super lucky the injury happened when it did. Same with Z. Looks like they'll both be ready to roll. Let's hope that's the extent of the injuries. The last couple of years has been crazy.
Illini hoops certainly deserves a season without injuries and/or drama. But after 70 years as an Illini fan, if I had to bet my life one way or the other, I would not hesitate to predict a constant battle against adversities. But who knows? Hope springs eternal.

I know the common thinking is we are uniquely prone to injury issues, but every fanbase thinks that about their team. In fact, we've had better luck than many, as @21ChampaignSt pointed out in an excellent post when this came up previously.

Coach said he doesn't discuss injuries or check out social media like Illini Message Board.

Just got home from his talk at Resource Bank, DeKalb. Great event. No big scoops to report.

He also said if players don't fit in or have the right attitude, they'll be gone. He, of course, didn't mention any names.

Brad looks trimmer and taller in person than he does on tv. Nice guy. Friendly.

Many people do not remember this but one of the worst injuries was back when Steve Lantern the point guard back with Eddie Johnson and company. We never recursion that one. And that team was rolling!!!

Is it me or tv or has Coach Brad lost some weight? He looked svelte today. Younger.

I asked Coach if he ever checks out comments on Illinois Loyalty. He stared at me for an eternity, saying nothing. Daggers. Then said no. Then asked why I asked that question. I said no particular reason, just curious, I check out comments all the time on Loyalty and 99.9% are complimentary of you and your program. He lightened up. He mentioned something about Dopamine?; he don't need none.

But for a while there, I thought Coach would invite me to local Pizza Hut. Great! I had a coupon. But my instinct took over. I, 5'9", not gonna meet anyone who is 6'3 or 4" and is 12 years younger than me in any parking lot, not even with a coupon.

Coach was great; we're lucky to have him. I was the dope.

This feels like the scene in Office Space when Peter asks Lawrence if he ever gets asked if he has a case of the Mondays

Christian---

Enjoyed the interview very much. As your skill set improves with time, I'd suggest more pointed questions. You do have a tendency to think out loud while you're composing the interview inquiries. Keep at it, you're going to be great as experience rounds your edges.

Why isn't MLT coaching somewhere?

Every year when the schedule is released, it plsses me off more and more that we don't have a protected 2-game series with Iowa. I would go as far as to say that to suggest something like Iowa / Nebraska, Iowa / Wisconsin, Illinois / Northwestern, etc. is the more logical pairing is simply to try to erase history and practically gaslight Big Ten basketball fans. :ROFLMAO: I flat-out guarantee you that most Illini and Iowa fans would take a protected rivalry vs. each other vs. the alternatives. If you appointed me commish tomorrow, these would be the protected rivalries ... and remember, as seen in football, (A) not every team needs one and (B) not every team needs the same number. I erred on the side of caution and didn't include some that really should exist (e.g., Illinois / Indiana) just to trim the list down a bit.

Illinois - Iowa, Northwestern
Indiana - Purdue
Iowa - Illinois, Nebraska
Maryland - N/A
Michigan - Michigan State, Ohio State
Michigan State - Michigan
Minnesota - Wisconsin
Nebraska - Iowa
Northwestern - Illinois
Ohio State - Michigan
Oregon - Washington
Penn State - N/A
Purdue - Indiana
Rutgers - N/A
UCLA - USC
USC - UCLA
Washington - Oregon
Wisconsin - Minnesota

I could take or leave some geographic considerations, too (e.g., PSU / Rutgers / Maryland since they're close).

Okay, rant over!
