Wow! A should-be Quad 1 game very early on. Nice.Welcome to the Illini Basketball & College Basketball thread

He posted a collage, think it was a salute to the season. Possible hint of returning for year 2?@LuckyIllini what was the Dainja post in the other thread about...All i could see was the pic of dain the rest was blacked out?
Can he transfer without a waiver though? He transferred from Baylor to Illinois, doesn't that use up his one freebie?Given the way his relationship with Fletch helped him get his body and his career pointed in the right direction, I'd be worried for Dain if he transferred, I feel like that would be a shaky decision for him.
He sat a year that transfer, so maybe his freebie is still on the table? Can he transfer without a waiver though? He transferred from Baylor to Illinois, doesn't that use up his one freebie?
I thought he was midyearHe sat a year that transfer, so maybe his freebie is still on the table?
How much of an impact did Luke’s injury have on this team and BU’s ability to instill the type of offensive continuity and on the court culture he wanted? Luke’s grit and understanding the importance of running the offense and his role would have been a nice option to have to sit players who weren’t playing within the flow of the offense.
The deadline to enter the Transfer Portal is May 11, 2023. Grad Transfers can enter later than that. The NBA Draft Early Entry Entrant Withdrawal Deadline is June 12th at 5 p.m. ET. So expect movement from now until then. For context, here were the key dates for Outgoing and Incoming Illini last year. When can we expect to start hearing news about who is leaving/joining the program?

He was a mid-season transfer which is why he sat, technically under the old rules he wouldn't have been eligible until one year following the date he transferred, so he would have had to miss a few games. Those who recall Former Illini Savior (tongue-in-cheek there) Alex Legion who transferred from Kentucky, may remember his first game was the Illini's 11th of the year.He sat though, so was it a freebie?
He didn’t sit a whole year not sure how the timing works on that.
It would be especially shaky because he's used his one transfer with immediate eligibility. Transfer again and he has to sit a year, and he's already seen how he handled that with loss of conditioning and weight gain at Baylor.Given the way his relationship with Fletch helped him get his body and his career pointed in the right direction, I'd be worried for Dain if he transferred, I feel like that would be a shaky decision for him.
thanks for sharing...................the looks Dain was giving the last 5-6 games especially when spending a lot of time on the bench didn't look inspiring aboot coming back to me either.............But with dad being involved maybe he can counsel DD on all the options and maybe enhance the decision to come back to the Illini..................I'm no insider, but I happened to bump into someone today who is close to Dain. Asked if Dain is coming back next year and he said Dain and his dad are discussing that now. The look he gave me didn't inspire tons of confidence.
No news is good news. When can we expect to start hearing news about who is leaving/joining the program?

It’s a smaller flatter structure than the NBA, but there are more people involved than the average fan realizes. Is it my imagination that pro and college teams have very different management structures? In pro you have advance scouts, pro scouts, international scouts, college scouts, gm's, and coaches. In college it seems like the coaches do everything, scouting, recruiting, and coaching, even though these roles all have different skill sets. If the pro's have these large staffs, couldn't a Big Ten or SEC team with large resources develop a more pro model? Hire multiple scouts good at scouting to scout, have assistant coaches whose expertise is coaching and strategy, and have a head coach/gm as recruiter/face of the franchise?
It seems like when a pro team tries the college model of coach/gm like chip kelly, urban meyer, or nick saban it flops, so wouldn't the pro organization be superior?
