Agreed. Shannon really likes school and does not mind the idea of coming back at all. I think there's some frustration between him and Coleman for how the season ended and they could end up wanting to raise their stock a little more, make some more NIL money, and lead Illinois to a deep run in march for the first time in a while
please let him know I said it’s a deal

Most of the TO's that I remember from this season weren't not from a lack of strength....unless you're talking strength between the ears
How many times did the ball fly out of or through their hands out of bounds? No need to answer because I saw it constantly. I agree with the 6 inches between their ears too by the way.

Maybe small hands

If you aren't from Central Illinois, you probably didn't hear about the death of 2 Prairie Central senior athletes, both All State players 1 in football 1 in basketball. They died in a sledding accident out in Colorado while on spring break.

You also may not remember, but Underwood and Geoff Alexander attended a game at Prairie Central to scout Cole Certa. Sounds like Underwood stopped by Fairbury today to offer his condolences. The basketball player was the coaches son. Very classy move.

You’re big time numbers people here. Just out of curiosity, is there any stats/trends on how often the team that scores first wins the game?

I've never seen a stat on that, but it'd be interesting to know! I'd have to guess the team that scores first wins a hair over 50% of the time for two reasons:
1. Those points count the same as any other
2. The better team is more likely to score on any given possession, and thus more likely to score first.

I'd wager point 1 is a very small effect, half a percent or something, while point 2 might be more noticeable. But hard to say without the actual data in hand.

The weakness of the 2024 Draft is our friend there.

I can see the case for CoHawk raising his stock by returning a lot more than TSJ though, frankly. CoHawk has skills he hasn’t really proven to be reliable at the college level yet and could. TSJ has put what he’s got on tape.
I don't know about that with TSJ. If he makes an Ayo like improvement with his 3 pt shot I think it could go a long way. He has shown some capability to knock them down but he is very inconsistent. Between that and a little more defensive presence and he would stick on an NBA roster. I wouldn't call him bad at either of those aspects but inconsistent.

This is like the point of a relationship before you break up but you’ve got a feeling your girl is distancing herself from you :(

But then again once the bandaid is ripped off, you’re single again and can look for someone even better :)

You can always play great and consistent and look a bit better in the eyes of scouts, sure. That didn’t help Ayo as much as it should have, scouts would now agree.

But the building blocks of what makes TSJ good have been regularly shown. Hawkins is still a bit of a mystery box even after three years of college.

Both guys project to very NBA-compatible games, unlike Kofi and to a degree Ayo

He has to go right and pull up for the 10’ jumper. At that point his 3 pt. shot isn’t a big factor in the college game. Probably still is for the NBA.

Agree with this plus he needs to shoot layups with his right off those drives.

I wonder if any news on the Illini and meetings with the coaching staff and players ....
Goode has had his meeting and announced on the Drive that he was staying and we dont need to worry about him. This was either Thursday or Friday. He also commented that he thought it was pretty ridiculous to have to recommit to the school they're already at so everybody doesnt freak out. Worth listening to. It's on YouTube

Goode can be a Hauser type 3 point shooter this coming year. He needs to add a midrange jumper to his game to make the 3 point shot more effective. He will be our vocal leader as he has the mental BB IQ and leadership skills to help Brad bring the team together.

Can confirm, my brother was there when they arrived. Said it was a really cool experience chatting with Coach Underwood and the assistants and just listening to stories about coaching.

Was told the staff called the PC coach RIGHT after the news broke. Asked what they could do to help out if anything.

CLASS personified. We are lucky to have a great coach and even a better person here representing the University of Illinois.

That would be great if only one transferred out. Epps is one of the mysteries from last year-everyone was really high on him until around the time of the concussion-could chalk it up to that but it seems other stuff we'll never know about was going on.

He never looked happy from the jump but maybe I overreact on facial expressions and body language.

I’ve never seen Ian Happ smile on a baseball field so I can’t wait for the Cubs to get rid of him, but he’s a great dude on podcasts and with media.

Imo while he needs to improve his 3 pt shooting. The main area he needs to improve is his ball handling/passing. TSJ turned the ball over far too much. If he can improve, involve others in the offense with his ability to drive with better passing. It would go along way by making those around him better and while limiting the turnovers. TSJ excels driving the ball if he can combine that with more assists look out! He would be closer to Ayo but he needs to improve quite a bit to do that. He do agree improved shooting would help. I would be ecstatic if Hawkins and TSJ came back. I think it would be beneficial for them and the team
