This broadcast made me feel like I was sitting at the table with them talking hoops and having a good time doing it.......I have genuine respect for all the head coaches at UI in the past , BUT , BU is at the top of that list for me...........he really really is...
Well said PruThis broadcast made me feel like I was sitting at the table with them talking hoops and having a good time doing it.......I have genuine respect for all the head coaches at UI in the past , BUT , BU is at the top of that list for me...........he really really is...
An EDG enjoying to the max where he is in life and looking forward to " getting better " is such a fulfilling thing for me , as an Illini fanatic to hear.........every time BU talks to reporters I feel like I'm there too , listening to him answer questions and not wanting to miss anything that's being said.......BU is my all time favorite Illini head coach and I hope he retires here after many many more successful years leading us in a mature and dignified way..............I really really do .....................
That Was laugh out loud funnyNot me. I will roll over in my grave.
Seems pretty flawed with all the minutes going to the freshmen and how low he has them all rated when reality is if they were that low they wouldn’t play.13th in Torvik's first 2027 projection.
Seems like he's not high on Coleman which is holding down our projection. Also doesn't look like he's really expecting any of our guys to make a jump. Although he does account for returning experience in other ways.
We were 8th in his preseason projection last year. Ended 6th.
I think it's too low, but I also think the one with us at #2 is too high. I'd go with 4-7 range. Which is great.Seems pretty flawed with all the minutes going to the freshmen and how low he has them all rated when reality is if they were that low they wouldn’t play.
Yeah that's true. Going to meander a little bit here.Seems pretty flawed with all the minutes going to the freshmen and how low he has them all rated when reality is if they were that low they wouldn’t play.
I played more around with it and if you remove Coleman and Ethan Davis it moves us up to 8 lol.Yeah that's true. Going to meander a little bit here.
But to your point that's why I can't get on board with the "Where would we have been without Keaton?" or "We would've been screwed without Keaton." type of rhetoric. We wouldn't have been as good had Keaton not been an All American. But we would've just played through other players instead and probably still have been good. That's the beauty of our system. It's not like we're screwed if one player doesn't pan out. Maybe Kylan, Tomi, Mirk, or Andrej would've had even better years had Keaton not been Keaton.
Other than that, I won't fault Torvik too much. Either we'll get more production out of Coleman's minutes than he is currently projecting and we'll rise in the rankings or... we won't and maybe we'll "just" be the 13th ranked team. He seems like he's usually in the ballpark though.
But regardless of what his algorithm says, our returning minute percentage is 8th among all high major teams. And it's not like we're returning minutes from a team that didn't make the tournament (Minnesota, Colorado St., Utah St. - 3 teams in front of us for returning minutes). We're returning a bunch of minutes from a final four team. So, of high major teams who made the tournament last year, we're fifth in returning minutes (Florida, MSU, Michigan, Duke).
I'd put money on us finishing top 10 in the efficiency metrics.
