I think he is referring to two years from now. Which is less ridiculous considering no one graduates after next year, but still out over our skis.

Let's figure out what next year's roster is, and go from there.

Oh gotcha. I was behind so I was reading fast. Must have missed the two year thing, my bad. :thumb: With all of that said I'm still super excited regardless!

Ok State was pre-season 7th in B1G 12 and finished 5th, but that Ok State team was very good with Evans and Carroll. BU was runner up in B1G 12 to Self for COY.

Also, I hope this news gives Cusumano a case of indigestion.

I generally like Frank, but that guy can't wait to pounce on any bit of news that is good for Mizzou/SLU and bad for Illinois. He was just tweeting the other day how incredible it was that Mizzou had a good chance to land Porter, Tilmon and Mark Smith. Eat it Frank.

People have to learn to not trust any "sources" on here that don't come directly from Piper and Werner. They are by far the most plugged in guys.

I agree. 100%. Although, I really like Tupper too, but he rarely breaking stories as much as the aforementioned.

It will be interesting to see how next year plays out. I think we have five players that will get a good chunk of minutes already: Finke, Black, Nichols, Coleman Lands, and Lucas. Tilmon will play also. The other minutes remaining are up for grabs between DJ, Jordan and the recruits in my opinion and a lot depends on what Mr. Smith does also.

I would expect a transfer or decommit once that picture becomes clearer, but hesitant to say who that is as I don't had be a clue. Just think it's the nature of the beast.

I'd just like to toot my own horn here (I get to do it so infrequently).

From Piper's article: "Walker travelled with Underwood to Belleville on Thursday afternoon to visit three-star 2017 signee Javon Pickett. He will accompany Underwood to East St. Louis on Friday to meet with Tilmon and his mom."

They may as well make the trip really efficient on the way home and stop by to see Mark Smith on Saturday. ;)

Would be very surprised if they didn't visit him while they're down that way. Fingers tightly crossed on Smith. I think we have a very good chance.

Thought I saw somewhere that Smith is visiting OSU or KSU this weekend.

From Henrickson's story on Smith

"The recruiting process will speed up now that his high school season is over. The plan for Smith, which is expected to be a busy and active one over the next couple of weeks, is to take a whole bunch of unofficial visits. He says he expects to then narrow it down and take the remaining two official visits he has remaining.

'My family and I hope to make a decision by the April signing period,” says Smith of the April 12 date that begins the spring period. “I just need to get out and visit some schools.'"

And as much as people want to think otherwise, recruiting is one of the primary reasons opportunities open up for assistants.

Yes. It's kinda like vice-presidents being chosen to capture a weaker voting region of the country rather than the stellar work of the vice-presidents.

Happy for Jamall. Gotta think Josh's recommendation played a big part in keeping him as well.

I mean you can call me a pessimist but even with the recruits and everything, I still see us as at best 3rd-4th in the B10. Maybe I haven't paid enough attention to how good the new recruits are, but I don't see how we're a top 5,10,15 team. I'd like to see someone on here change my opinion, but I just don't see it.
If thinking that we got from a bottom half big 10 team, to a top 3-4 team in just one year with a new coach is pessimistic, then I'll drink my orange Kool-Aid from that half empty glass all day.

I'm late to the Walker party....

YES!!!!!! THIS IS GOOD AND NICE AND COOL.

Let's not be cute here. Tilmon is clearly gone without Walker. And if he's in with Walker, all the reporting we have is that Walker has the job. If Tilmon makes clear he's out either way, Walker will not be on the staff.

Tilmon holds the cards here, and we need an answer now.

And as long as we're speaking the truth here, Jeremiah doesn't appear to be the relevant Tilmon in this decision. This is Mom's call.

Where do we get Tilmon is clearly gone without Walker? This seems to be a growing story on this site. Sure Tilmon said Walker was the main reason he was here and this is a likely possibility, but Tilmon reopens his recruiting and it is game on.

Underwood needs to fill his staff & Walker has a value past Tilmon in giving us recruiting continuity in the St. Louis area.

Not saying this is wrong, just a lot of speculation on what a Kid and his mother will do here.

I'm not trying to slam the guy, but there is a 0% chance he is on this staff if he's not a but-for cause of Tilmon enrolling.

On top of that, this board of experts wanted the entire coaching staff dismissed for lack of player development and X&O coaching. Now all of a sudden he is being likened to the second coming?
