Illini Football 2016

Double Down

Chicago, IL
I think the schedule might work out in the illini's favor in a couple of matchups. Take the Michigan game for example, they play the illini before the huge game against Sparty, they could be over looking Illinois. Who does Wisky have that scares this team; Corey Clemons. I know it's week 1 but Sparty didn't look so hot last night. I think that 8-9 wins is a strong possibility. IMO there is no reason why the Illini can't start 6-0.

Love it! I don't want to go there quite yet with predictions of 6-0 because Murray State isn't the greatest team to show exactly what we have. I was very impressed with just the simple things of our game yesterday. Nothing flashy or out of the ordinary but rather "we are the bigger, faster and more talented team" mentality.

I am scared for NC because of Hood and his ability to put a pounding on our D. It has been discussed a bunch of times on different threads but we are not the deepest teams. A RB like Hood who is getting the ball a majority of the game can very easily lead to a couple banged up players on our D.

We are not the deepest team but the one place we have depth is the D line. Which means they should not get worn out as much as other sections of the defense.

Today is the football banquet, which means the program is saying thank you to its seniors.

I think in this case there are three in particular that deserve special thanks.

Joe Spencer, Rob Bain, and Taylor Barton. All three of those guys committed to Zook back in 2011, stuck by their commitments under Koenning and then Beckman, went through Beckman's reign of chaos, abuse and failure, emerged as leaders through the transition to Bill Cubit, got their rug pulled out from them yet again in the changeover to Lovie and have been team leaders as we try to lay down a foundation for a brighter future.

Those three gave more than they got from Illinois Football and put in the blood sweat and tears that even allow us to be optimistic going forward. I'm not sure there's anyone on earth who deserves to see Illinois football take off more than those guys.

Thanks gentlemen :hailtotheorange:

Beckman/Thomas should probably have to pay those guys restitution for what they put them through in their time here.

Well said, but I would add any of the walk-on seniors that stuck with the program and endured.
