Illini Football 2021

4-8 is the floor.
7-5 is the ceiling.
Just give me hopeful, competitive games!
And fewer dumb mistakes / unforced errors. I was shocked at how undisciplined we were under Lovie. I thought that was the one thing that would carry over from NFL coaching experience. But our mistakes I think are what caused so many games to get out of hand. It seems like this is something Bielema is prioritizing to fix (with his Football 101 program), and I hope we see the results of that on the field. If so, I think that should raise the floor considerably.

Just to add to your Football 101 comment.

This is one of the things I love about what he’s doing and it started day 1. Increase the players IQ by constantly reinforcing smart decision making. Maybe it won’t work, but if it does it surely raises those mid 30’s recruiting classes by 10 spots. I mean how many times thru the last 15 years have we seen Illinois teams hang tough for long stretches and then just have games get blown open by a series of bad plays?

They start a week earlier than everyone else. I think day 1 is Monday?
I’m sure I heard one of the coaches say august 2nd, but I don’t know if that was full gear or the start of camp.
