What frustrated me last year was at times they used him correctly (when injuries weren't the issue) and allowed him to run down hill and utilize his 'shiftiness for a powerback' (not implying Barry Sanders, if picking up what I'm putting down). Then, they would also use him as a speed back (realize that they may not have had another option at that time) and he looked pedestrian. Never seen a back look so good and so bad game to game.

Part of that could also be attributed to him being a true freshman. Hes probably still learning coverages and reads against high level defenses. Not very many guys that age that are consistent and the guys that are the truly special ones.

Think the issue was Tony not being able to be flexible with his game plan. He would scout a team and know that speed back or getting to the edge was the best way to beat them. However we often times didn't have the personnel and we weren't creative enough to come up with a good way to generate power rushing attack against certain strengths.

Think that is why we have such a stable of guys now. We are going to run the ball and we are going to have guys that can attack a defense in the running game multiple ways.
