Also, is there REALLY no recourse we can take with the south end zone seats before any renovation gets done? The laughably long distance from the end zone looks SO bad, and it’d honestly look better to have temp bleachers bringing it to the grass level.

I'm glad I'm not the only one bothered by how far away the south endzone seating is, you can put a basketball court in that area between the endzone and bleachers. Its ugly.
Definitely one of the former Illini players that I'd love to see on staff here someday - I always appreciated the "University of Chief Illiniwek" shout-outs in his intros. I hope he turns out to be as good a coach as he was a player, and gets himself ready for a promotion to the (Illini) BIG.

Is it a consideration given state games being played there I believe every other year?
The planned renovation from a few years ago that got put on hold is supposed to address that and the east side.

For sure, but I think a temporary “visual fix” should honestly be a priority … I have talked to multiple non-Illini friends, and they all have the same perplexed and paradoxical take on our stadium - it’s beautiful in many ways, but the hideous south end zone is so distracting and so unlike the rest of it that it overshadows everything else and makes it look so goofy. Even adding the relatively few rows it’d take to bring it down to the grass would honestly make it look immeasurably better, IMO.
"A few" years ago meaning like 15 years ago when they were doing the North EZ? Or has there been more recent renderings from after Whitman took over?

IHSA has changed requirements for facility that state they need to be able to host every year. Speculation is ISU is likely location.

That’s why it was moved from ISU. ISU facilities have really been upgraded since the last time they hosted. You’re right about the potential conflict. It sounds like NIU will be the major player here.
