next year will be fun and so nice that we aren't the source of articles like this with our current coaching staff

Kirk Ferentz didn't forget how to coach football, and his son is likely a reasonably smart football coach as well. As much as it gives me pains to say it (although it could be gas?), my bet is that barring another rash of injuries on the offensive side of the ball Iowa will be significantly better on offense, will have the same capable Phil Parker led defense, and will contend for the Big West title. Now I have to go get sick.

Agreed, but it is nice to be distanced from nepotism

The nuance is what is considered significantly better - going from 110th to 80th? or 45th? The former seems doable but moving up 40-50 spots on offense is an awfully heavy lift. The have a definite upgrade at QB but still lots of question marks on the offensive line + wide receiver. TE is less certain but their history assumes their next starting TE will be one of the better options inside the Big Ten. I'd also expect their defense to take a step back after the NFL losses + couple transfers. Agree on not ruling them out for Big Ten West contention.

No Ohio State or Michigan. We should be 12-0 going into the B10 championship game. :chief:
Agreed. And we'll likely be playing mostly 2nd and 3rd stringers in the second half of the Penn State game, just trying not to run up the score.
Really, the only question for next year for Illinois is what players opt out of the National Championship game.
That and what will our national champions hat will look like- I mean someone needs to start designing that pronto
I like the way you guys think! I-L-L

When does spring practice start?
based on prior years, pretty sure it starts when students get back from spring break. like around March 20th.
It needs to be completed by April 15, which is when the spring transfer portal opens

So much has changed and different schools/teams do it different ways. What was typically dictated, at least when I was playing, was the coaches decide how many months you "got off' then it would start. Those off months included "optional" workouts that "you'd better be at" (while paying close attention to details as an actual ball, in this case an actual "football" present wasn't allowed and would have been a violation), however to my knowledge NCAA says when you can or cant start official practices. There's a window that leaves flexibility "officially" but ultimately up to coaches as to when exactly.

If that has changed, someone please correct me.
