Looks like someone used Microsoft Paint from 1995 to create the least exciting poster designed not to offend nor appeal to anybody.

It’s the Greendale Human Being of schedule posters.
It looks like Grange is going to leap over a cheerleader and MI trumpeter, into the arms of Alma Mater.
This is not a good poster.

That’s FANTASTIC!!

The Mattel Intellivision-style football players made me laugh as well.
Best game ever! How many hours I spent as a youth...

Nice! My wife is pregnant and due in January, so our tentative plan is to also attend the Penn State game ... assuming we can go, I cannot wait! I honestly don't remember the last time I went down for a game where it wasn't freezing cold.

On a slightly related note, does anyone know what our season ticket sales are at (approximately)? I saw the post about the percentage increase, but I can't find a good base number. Having a large number of season tickets makes it SO much easier to get big crowds on a consistent basis, rather than relying on Illini fans who originally had other plans for that Saturday to make impromptu trips to Champaign!
I forget where, but I heard somewhere a few weeks back that it was near 9,000 new season tickets sold (and 94% retention rate of PY season ticket holders). And for the first time, I’m one of them!

Don’t worry, I’m ready to break out my Memorial Stadium Sellout Watch tracking spreadsheet again to estimate how close we are getting to breaking our pesky sellout-less streak.

I've seen that picture before (minus the giants in the back)
If we get a full crowd for the PSU game, can the DIA take a million pictures from all possible angles? I’ve seen this photo advertised by our social media, and it’s honestly kind of embarrassing that we promote a photo with an empty balcony because that’s all we’ve got, lol…

Attendance for that game was 37,363. Not sure why they didn't get an update last year.

DeVito's stats were impressive, especially when compared to our best future-NFL quarterbacks of the 1980's. Here is what the "norm" should be in a pass-oriented college game. These stats span our most prolific 12 year stretch. (NOTE: Passing accuracy has, of course, improved immensely in today's game.)

1980 - Dave Wilson 53% 3154 yards 19 TDs/14 INT
1981 - Tony Eason 62% 3360 yards 20 TDs/14 INT
1982 - Tony Eason 62% 3248 yards 17 TDs/15 INT
1983 - Jack Trudeau 63% 2446 yards 18 TDs/13 INT
1984 - Jack Trudeau 65% 2724 yards 18 TDs/10 INT
1985 - Jack Trudeau 64% 2938 yards 15 TDs/15 INT
1988 - Jeff George 58% 2257 yards 9 TDs/8 INT
1989 - Jeff George 63% 2738 yards 22 TDs/12 INT
1990 - Jason Verduzco 65% 2567 yards 16 TDs/12 INT
1991 - Jason Verduzco 60% 3014 yards 15 TDs/14 INT

We've lowered the bar way too much during this recent stretch of BAD football. BB is working to fix that.

Also the caveat that each of these seasons was 11 games instead of the 13-game season for DeVito.

What stood out to me was the horrible TD/INT ratio those QB's had. WOW! Only Jeff George in '89 had what I would call a good season from that perspective. A few others had OK seasons (Trudeau, Wilson, Eason), and the rest put up some real stinkers IMO.

yea
it was a completely different era and style of game . it’s just hard to fairly compare stats from 1983 to 2023 . just like it’s hard to compare them from 1935 to 1985

Yes agreed, hence my point about improved "accuracy" in today's game.

There weren't many Aaron Rodgers' (or Mahomes or Herbert or Brady) back in the day. I can recall anything over 50% being a pretty good completion rate in the NFL. In fact, pulling a random sample from the 1980 NFL stats, most QB's were 48% to 58% for the full season. And INT's came with the territory.

For the era, our QB's were not "stinkers" but rather the #1 passing team in the Big 10 for the decade.

Interesting Comparison: Michigan led the nation in team offense in 1976 and passed 9.3 times per game, completing 4.5 (48%).

So you’re saying you want to come to a game and get the baby in free 😏
