Which is the biggest reason for it, but it alleviates the issues of securing the cash flow at all those point of sales locations throughout the stadium. Most large venue events have shifted to this method of payment.

For this very reason, I have started carrying and using cash more often.
I recall being very impressed with the improvement last year. Things moved along nicely, even at halftime, apparently because there were so many order screens. Staff‘s only job was to get food to the counter. I used to dread those lines and avoided halftime concessions. Trouble with that is you miss some of the game.Im Not sure about that! A lot of people have a hard time with those machines

Correct. Bielema will need to win 8 games consistently, let's say 20 seasons, to even be considered for a statue. That would put Bielema at age 73, so maybe he wouldn't get to enjoy his bronziness as an active coach. But a lot needs to go right to win 8 games at Illinois. Like so damn much.
The 13-12 record for BB after two seasons with Illinois football is worth discussing historically, or at least generationally. The last coach to begin their coaching stint at Illinois to have an above .500 winning percentage after two seasons was John Mackovic in 1989-1990 (which was before my time on Earth), 16-7-1. Mackovic was also the last coach to leave with an above .500 record at Illinois, 30-16-1 (.649).
This one surprised me a bit, but the last coach to have two 8 win seasons at Illinois was Ron Turner. The Sugar Bowl team in 2001 (10-2) and in 1999 (8-4).
Though the flirtations and musing of statues in July are fun, these dreams do have a statute of limitations. During August our Illini will grind and slog through camp, but September is coming. Will we rise to our fanbases loftiest of ceilings or crash like so many other Illini teams before them?

It's a great fanbase. Their reasons for being mad at Bielema are pretty fair all things considered and are not limited to just his football teams.
The only things that matter from our perspective on the Bielema-Arkansas tenure at this point are (1) the underlying quality of the football his teams played was better than the record looked and (2) we are getting the 50-something father version of Bielema who has learned a lot from all the stuff that happened since he left the Big Ten.
All parties are better off than they were in 2017.
The Las Vegas Raiders stadium is totally cashless, for example.

BB inherited a dumpster fire and in years 2-4 was very competitive in the toughest conference/division in football. Realistically, that's about as good as you can expect in their situation. Yeah the wheels fell off in year 5 and he acted a bit....immaturely, but it's not like they landed on probation or he was accused of abuse
from a totally net personal income basis ( tips & income tax reporting standpoint) I wonder if vendors prefer the all cash days or the way it is now .

I assume you’re someone who can understand context, so come on … 2 wins in Lovie’s last year turns to 5-7 and then 8-4 in two seasons under Bielema? That’s a fantastic trajectory, which is all that can reasonably be judged in a coach’s first year.

Also, Bielema seemed to let it slip last November that he was pushing for the students to be moved out of the NEZ … if that were to happen, you’d think it would be for this season, so I’m guessing he lost that battle?

1983: 10-1 (lost to Miznoz in Sept opener)
1989: 7-1 (lost to Colorado in Sept and then Michigan in game #9)

This fall's team is now tied with 1928, '34, '50, and '89 for the fourth best start in the past 106 seasons of eight or more games on the schedule.
Win v. MSU and Purdue and they're tied with '83 and '01 for the second best start in our history through 10 games. Only '51 was better.
Just mind-blowing what these guys and their coaches have done so far IMO, especially considering the starting point two years ago.
The company I recently retired from went to basically self serve convenience stores in their breakrooms where you scan what you selected and pay with a card. No more losing money or product getting hung up in vending machines. Pretty sure this is what you’ll see in many locations in the stadium.

I hope we go undefeated. I bleed O+B. Just saying lets see how he does without the players he lost & the Coaches that moved on before we anoint him as the GOAT of Illinois football coaches.
Much better internal control in a cashless system. My church group runs one of the concessions and we might utilize 40 different volunteers over a season. I know most of those people but I wouldn't guarantee that all of that cash (and we're talking thousands of dollars per concession per week) would actually end up in the cash register.
