I can’t imagine we would voluntarily red shirt a 4* player who is not a lineman . In this day of the transfer portal , guys like that expect to play at least a little .

If you red shirt them, they aren’t sticking around for their 5th yr anyway ..

Odd that they use a picture from Grange Grove to promote their beer sales when, I don't think, they allow beer sales in that area.
They have in the past, and I've seen "Beer Garden" referenced on some materials for this season.

I know @BRucks sent me a helpful link in a previous thread that explained Grange Grove was BYOB this year. However, I definitely showed up with friends to a game in 2018 (the infamous 63-0 destruction at the hands of Iowa...), and we were able to purchase Coors Light tallboys in Grange Grove. So, they have absolutely had a "beer garden" area in the past.

I'm excited to see just how cool of an atmosphere we can put together in Grange Grove for the PSU game, with the Big Noon Kickoff stage set up there! Speaking of...

Wow when was the last time the Illini had votes in the preseason poll? 2008?
According to this site, we were receiving some votes preseason in 2009 ... and that rings a bell, as I remember being pretty hyped for that season until we absolutely faceplanted vs. Mizzou in Week 1, losing 37-9 in front of a national audience. I remember we had a brief "lightbulb moment" during that season where we demolished Michigan at home and then won on the road at Minnesota to climb back to 3-6 and keep hope of a bowl alive ... but then we lost our last three, lol. 2008 and 2009 will always be some of the most disappointing Illini teams in my memory. :(

Also, I know this stuff will change a lot as the season gets going, but I am excited to have three ranked teams on the schedule again ... last year, the only ranked team we played was Michigan. We also play two more teams receiving votes (Kansas and Minnesota) and another team receiving votes in only the Coaches Poll (Maryland), so if things break our way, we could have some exciting matchups in prime TV slots this year!

I've been very busy and haven't had time to read many of the preseason threads. Other than Matthew Bailey do we have any other injuries we should be concerned with?

The '09 team had about 15 NFL players (who actually played, not backups or redshirts) and a 4 year starter senior quarterback. It's arguably one of the most underachieving teams in all of college football, not just Illinois.
